looks pretty epic
looks pretty epic
oh wow, definitely gonna check this out.
While this looks good, some media types are trying to compare this to Game of Thrones. Sorry, this is somewhat based in world history if only because the main character is Marco Polo....
Will watch for sure, but why is every period piece being stacked against GoT when its a FANTASY EPIC. Just wondering....
uh tons of naked asian girls doing kung fu
So it's out. Critics hate it, 22% on RT and 48 metascore. Audience is polar opposite, 80+ or 8+ on rt/meta/imdb. Watched 2 episodes so far and I can understand where those opposite scores are coming from. Production value is superb, be it the sets/costumes, sound or cinematography of the awesome landscape. Acting is somewhere in the decent to good range. No P. Dinklage/C.Dane/S.Bean to be found yet, but some characters do stand out. Khan/100 eyes are my favourites.
The first big and bothering weak point: Dialogue/writing. While the overall story works, the dialogue made me cringe a few times, especially during the first episode. I can only hope this improves later on.
The second one depends on how historically accurate you need it to be. Because it's not, at all and full of chinese clichés. It probably would've been better to include some dragons or other magic creatures so people would just take it as a tale based on Marco Polo and stop nitpicking. I wasn't much bothered and I advise not to google for a list, because it spoilered me a major plot twist.
All in all I enjoy it as an entertaining show based on Marco Polo, with some stiff dialogue/acting but lots of naked asian hunnies (rawr) and some kung fu, sometimes both at once.
I might have knocked it out Monday while "working" It's not bad. Some fun stuff in it, not GoT level good by any means but if you're bored and have nothing else check it out.
Definitely entertaining. Nothing mind-blowing, but definitely not boring. Hundred Eyes is fuckin' awesome.
Should have just called this show The Mongols
lol does it have any redeeming value aside from nudity?
i cant tell any of these asian broads apart. Aside from that the show is pretty okay
The shows not bad. Relatively slow, but the pace reminds me of Rome (which loved).
I love these "historical" dramas so I'll finish this one up
finished up the season last night. A lot of reviews say it is not binge-able but they are wrong. I found it perfectly binge worthy, but i also had football on in the background all day sunday and last night.
Was pretty disappointed with the way the season ended
Spoiler: show
You sad fuckers realize the internet is awash in totally free nudes and porn right, you don't need it from scripted drama.
My boyfriend and I watched this last week out of boredom. We are both into history and we always watch Game of Thrones together so it seemed like a good middle ground. I really gave this a chance but by the end of episode 1 we were both irritated and sick of it.
Marco's character is dull, the history is veryyy inaccurate and reality gives way to idiotic quasi-asian mysticism. Things went sour with the baffling scene where the group is hiding from a (magical?) dust storm led by mongol horse riders. There's the groan-inducing obligatory "I'm an asian karate master and for no reason I'll train you in karate or whatever". The main characters all speak in English AND with modern British accents... for some reason?! The ending was so try-hard by cutting between an orgy, a snake, and preparing a war attack it left me laughing and giving up.
I wish it was subtitled instead. It's weird how he can talk to anyone in English.
I'm definitely with you guys on the language thing.
the guy that plays marco polo looks like the non-charismatic lovechild of bam margera and james mcavoy
