I see a new Resolution/Lunge head for RUN, and a new debuff neck for BRD. (small upgrade but still, welcome one)
Well... it's an upgrade only with the unity concord bonus, which kinda binds you to stay within that certain Unity.
Which is what sucks of this system. Maybe you want to be in Unity X to receive this bonus for BRD, but then need to be in Unity Y to receive that other bonus for feet on another job, and so on.
Lame, lame, lame, lame thing.

Unless, but I doubt it, specific unities are needed only to OBTAIN the item, but then the bonus works on any Unity as long as you have the right (max) rank. If this is how things are it would be acceptable I guess but I'm skeptic about SE being that nice to us.

if they gave us enough inventory to do it, it would be interesting to see level capped events, imo.
Not enough info to say for sure yet, but someone with Naja and Aldo both had the same items available. It's possible more open up if you're ranked higher or something, but I'd think that would of been mentioned in the notes. It sounds like outside of needing the boost to accolades (no info on how big the boost even is) there's no reason to not be in the highest Unity, maxing out your boosts and increasing your drops. Still to be seen if that blurb about increasing drops is quantity, getting +1s, augs on the items, etc.

I don't think anyone saw enough of it to say for sure. Gear seems to be a mix of side grades, wtf, and a couple of stand out nice things, from what I saw. Finding myself playing mostly in JP time, I'm disappointed it wasn't turned into more of a Reive like setup where you show up to a Wanted fight, contribute, and get stuffs. It requires parties, and follows in Delve/Incursions footsteps of anyone past 6 increasing the mobs HP. Still more to be seen for sure, but that's my initial thoughts.

At this point I see two scenarios:
1) Item-wise and bonus-wise all Unities are the same, what changes is minor thing (specific RoEs, cosmetic stuff?)
2) There's a pool of common items and then a pool of specific items. And here we split this scenario in two as I said previously: one where a specific unity is only needed to get the item, one where specific unity is also needed to activate the bonus on the specific items.
If it's 1) it's all good I guess, and way less of a problem than we previously thought (just pick the highest rank one and stay there). If it's 2) it kinda depends on the further split. Scenario A is okayish, Scenario B is kinda lame.

Those boots are the ones we saw in the JP article published last week. They look nice. If anything it's an enha skill alternative to Rubeus Boots (good luck getting them today if you don't have 'em already), and for some jobs it's a nice FC option too, depending on unity rank.

I feel disheartened and skeptic about a system that seems unnecessarily convoluted and like a cheap, low-budget attempt at rehashing content to keep players busy for a long time with the least effort on their side.
Basically a post-abyssea v2 era of FFXI. I don't miss that era at all, I loved the "feeling" of a coordinated, coherent, well planned expansion that SoA gave, at least at first. This gives me the feeling of something to buy time (A LOT of time even) as they try to make up their minds on what to do for the future of FFXI. Basically not knowing where the fuck the game will go, which is exactely what I felt in that era I described.
Maybe this is what gives me bad vibes and makes me see the glass half-emtpy. Aside from this the Unity Concord system in itself without all these stupid implications I mentioned, might be much better than we previously thought.
Personally I'm still dreaming for moderately challenging, deep, articulated content that focuses on organized groups instead of this low-budget stuff aimed at small groups of dualboxing players playing in 5men parties, but I guess it's unrealistic at this point to expect anything else. Sucks cause I loved the "rebirth" of Linkshells that the launch of SoA brought on =/ But I know a lot of people (majority of BG?) feels the opposite way.
it seems like you can do all the (seemingly random?) RoE's for the unity to get accolades which is what probably gives points to the unity. they mentioned unities in lower standing will have its advantages (that high placed ones dont?), though. i mean theyre the best way to get accolades based on what i saw so basically you would empty the union RoE log, go kill wanted mobs, upgrade them, help union out. i mean depending on how big the system gets and how they deal with the potential "bandwagon unity" issue, it could actually work out they way theyre pitching it to us
Maybe low rank unities give a bonus % to the accolades you get from those shared RoEs?
I think the Rainy Weather things are only because they were making an HQ version of those tekko from Sea Horror or whatever.
