Magic the Gathering Cards

Friend has this huge lot of magic cards. I'm trying to sell for him but we know next to nothing about the cards. around 150 booster packs there were opened and looks like cards just put back in. Unopend starter packs. Lots of uncommons, and some jp cards in (maybe 200-400). Estimated total of 10k cards. Can anyone give me a rough estimate of what they are worth? condition ranges from poor to mint (most being in great condition but quite a few are bent). If anyone here is interested we can work out a deal but shipping is gonna be a bitch.

I'd be careful with older unopened stuff, and be serious about looking up values.

You'll probably need to also check through a lot of the cards too if you don't want to miss anything.

Best to do would make a pile of the opened cards of all the Rares/Mythics, and look up those values. Uncommons aren't usually going to be worth much but there's of course always exceptions. Same for commons but even less often than Uncommons.

Take your time or find a friend IRL that actually knows about the stuff that is actually trustworthy.

If you want a 'rough estimate' of what any of those cards could be worth, anywhere from 0.01 to 5,000.00 a piece but mostly in the 1cent-1dollar range (no one will usually buy these cards anyway unless either it's a set of four or they're good for Commander).

If so, those are 30 card intro decks that Wizards gives out as promotional materials. Not really worth anything.

I would sort the cards by set and then by rarity to make it easy to look up the prices. You can tell the set by the symbol on the right side of the cards. Looks like the collection you have is from the mid 2000s because I can make out cards from the set Future Sight and the set Dissension. You can use the following link that has the set name for each symbol and sortable price lists for each set. Good luck.

BTW, if you don't want to go through everything, you can always post the collection up on craigslist and probably find a buyer. Most stores buylist bulk cards at $5 per 1000 commons and uncommons and $.10 per rare. Obviously you might be giving away value by doing this, but you'll be saving yourself the time and effort of going into this blind.

Yeah GF and i went through and sorted everything by Rarity. Took about 5 hours but we got it done. Working on putting eveything in an excel sheet but there are about 1,000 rares and 2-3k uncommons. I have updated the OP with spreadsheet list of what I have.

Sengir Vampire - Depends on the set. You'll have to look at images but Alphas are 31.47, Betas are 22.17, Unlimited is 2.32, another's about a buck, but most are less than 50 cents.
Rod of Ruin - Same, alpha and beta worth some money, other sets not really.
The Rack - Either $5 or 1.50 pending on the set
Llanowar Elves - Again, depends on the set, going to have to look at images. Alpha 12, Beta 8.55, promo 8.88, others not so much.
Lure - Same for alpha/beta, 5.00/2.00/crap

Summoner's Pact - OH SNAP. I like this card. it's like a chord of calling on crack. 5.70
