There should be balance in our games, right? I mean.. I wanna stare at the digital backside of a hot male character, too~
But seriously, I think what concerns me the most out of this article isn't simply the womanizing themes that plague our games-- what *really* concerns me is the insane amount of backlash and threats this poor woman gets just for trying to speak out for her cause. Not even the FBI seem capable of stemming the frightening tide of death threats she receives.
It's not as if she has the power to completely eliminate all tits and ass and female related game violence from games. Even if she did have that power, I doubt it would change games very much at their core.
As a fellow female gamer, I really hope that the masses here at Blue Gartr are different. I want to believe there's plenty of male gamers out there willing to understand the issue at hand and be willing to support female gamers with their concerns.
When it comes to game related harassment, I also hope that there is a strong class of male gamers that will step in during such situations and help put it to an end. After all, these kind of people (who harass and hate) are the ones who really ruin it for us all; male and female gamers alike.
As far as the feminist issues in games go, I'm all for equality-- equal digital violence, nudity, and degradation for us all~ Bring me female heroes who can fight for themselves and male NPC's who twerk in the buff for my pleasure.
Now that I've vented...
I'm curios to know where the people here stand.
