Post your top albums of the year list 2014 (because Spotify's sucks)

People still do these? Well, there's only a handful of writers that I even bother reading their AOTY lists anymore. I got Spotify's email to check out what my listening habits were for this year and I was hoping for all sorts of personal details and possible comparisons with others.

It turns out they deliver more useless information than the yearly Vana'Diel census. Also, meta-tags failed so badly, I got 4 top genres of the same genre (hip hop). Here's my top albums that I was able to quickly pull with the help of last.fm and favoriting tracks.

P.S. I think it might be cool if someone did an end of the year list for TV shows. I watched a lot less this year, but always on the lookout for new stuff to watch.

Didn't post it because I was on a metal kick with my earlier post, and it's not new music, but the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack this year was also the shit.

Dilated Peoples is by far AOTY. By that, I mean, every track is above average-to-classic. If you slept on it, you should be ashamed as a hip hop fan. Mainstream releases were undoubtedly mediocre, Common and Cole's releases had so much filler. Atmosphere was actually list-worthy, I just left it out as a brain-fart. Plenty of decent hip hop this year in the indy scene, I didn't even have time to listen to all the acclaimed shit I hear from Dart Adams. I'll link his list once he makes it. Should come with a good roasting of weak ass radio rappers lol

As promised, Dart Adams does his final AOTY post, can't say I blame him, after reading his tweets this past year.

The Top 100 Rap Albums & Top 50 Non-Rap Albums Of 2014 (According To Dart Adams) by @Dart_Adams: https://medium.com/@Dart_Adams/the-t...s-d00abda215ad

There are a few albums left out that I thought would make his list, also some I didn't expect, but the man lives a much busier life than I, so who am I to judge?

My list grew a bit after finally getting around to many of the albums that were recommended to me, and a few from yall, too! Here are my new additions:

    Hozier - Hozier
    Phantogram - Voices
Chet Faker - Built on Glass
    Flying Lotus - You're Dead
    Bassnectar - Noise vs Beauty
    FKA twigs - LP1
    Bryan Ferry - Avonmore
TV on the Radio - Seeds

Phantogram and twigs stay on heavy rotation, the production doesn't get no better than those albums. Phantogram really hitting hard on that Kimbra sound, which I can't get enough of. Looking forward to some new K-Dot this year.

Chet Faker and Flume are amazing. I listened to Flume's new album this year for the first time but it isn't a 2014 album.

Yeah, that album is good. A lot of tracks got that good Bonobo DnB sound. I remember hearing the remix track with Freddie Gibbs before, don't know why I never bothered to check him out. Good stuff.

Tantric - Blue Room Archives. I liked it a lot more than their album before it.

Honorable mention: Scott Stapp - Proof of Life. Even if he is a crazy nut job and a giant asshole. Ignore the song Jesus was a rock star, its face palm worthy. I miss Creed =/

The only albums I actually bought this year were:
    Clipping: CLPPNG
The War on Drugs: Lost in the Dream
    Logic: Under Pressure

All 3 were pretty good but idk if I'd call any of em AOTY, maybe Clipping. That shit is so good.
