-challenging NPCs around the world;

-dungeon/trial drops.

Oh man I can't wait for Keeper of the Lake and 2 new hard mode dungeons (as well as Odin) dropping nothing but Cards instead of relevant stuff once Golden Saucer goes live.

Cards would in infinitely more relevant than anything else that drops in dungeons, so yea sure why not.

The real question is whether Triple Triad will rip FF8's music (given there's precedent for that now), do an arranged version, or something completely new.

Provided how they ripped FF6s boss battle music directly from that game and slapped it in XIVs Ultros fight, I'd put my money on they do the same thing.

They aren't doing that for the Gold Saucer though. Triple Triad being such a huge part of that patch and the fact that it'll receive FFXIV exclusive rules and stuff will probably get at least a rearrangement of the classic theme. The Ultros fight is something you do once and then forget about it (unless you really want the minion), not the case with Triple Triad if you actually decide to work on it.

tbh I hope most of the FF8 rules don't make it in to XIV. without the ability to skip Lose All/Random/otherannoyingrulehere via manipulating the Queen it's gonna be fucking awful lol

They will make it casual-friendly for sure so expect a "standard" no rule shuffling ladder and some more dynamic one. Or having to agree to the rules. If you disagree 3 times you get locked out of TTfinder for an hour.

Some of FFVIII rules won't apply to pvp anyway because you can't lose or steal cards while battling other players. I hope we get some kind of sidequest to unlock certain NPCs though like the Card Club in FFVIII.

Like I said you cannot win/steal cards from other people in pvp.
