The US Top Gear started slow since they tried to be a direct as possible copy of the original. Since they changed the format and the host have gotten more comfortable with each other it has gotten better.

wasn't he on the first episode or something?
edit: he was in the pilot
Yea they don't do any of that stuff, no guest, no lap times really. Just adventures and being ridiculous. It's pretty fun now honestly, you guys should give it a try. It's only TG in name and that it has cars in it at this point.
So it sounds like skip season 1 and go from there?
Pretty much, a few of their big adventure races are actually really fun to watch. Once they stopped trying to be someone else and just starting being a bunch of dorks the show gets pretty fun. And they all pick on Tanner which everyone loves to do.
Yeah Top Gear US is at least worth it as background TV / filler. It's enjoyable.
That's good to know. Maybe i'll take it into consideration since I remember Tanner getting picked on.
http://transmission.blogs.topgear.co...days-top-gear/ Well, at least the show's not totally cancelled from their standpoint? I think BBC got a look at the ratings hit and how much money they are losing.
That's why I brought top gear usa up lol
It's good to know this info, as I need filler too besides reruns.
The fact it's still ongoing for 5 odd seasons must mean they're doing something right!
FWIW, BBCA is airing a new-to-US two-part thinger tonight in place of Series 22, so if you're not torrrenting, it is still worth watching tonight.
(Too bad I'm in Canada right now)

The Perfect Road Trip: Italy, for those who may have been wondering for the sake of finding it later.
Aw man, tracking down the USA eps is a tiny bit painful. Most older eps have very little seeds.
Starting from Season 5 is ok? Or is there a recommended start point? (A point where anyone can jump in and enjoy it for its likeness to the original in that the chemistry between the 3 becomes chum-like)
Season 3 should be fine for TG USA imo.
3-5 are decent. I only liked it a bit once they ditched the original format.
Yea, I was pretty confused about it so I looked back into it. I remembered him being involved with it in some way since he is a big car guy. He was supposed to be in the NBC version. Doesn't help they replaced him with Adam Ferrara(kinda sorta similar name?).
Anyways reading into it on wikipedia, they had an interesting blurb from Jay Leno about his thoughts on why the original format doesn't work in America: Commercialism. BBC isn't funded by commercials, so they don't care if they offend a manufacturer. In America, Ford or Chevy or whoever else is paying for the show.
FUCK YEAH CAPITALISM

things seem to be getting worse before they get better lol
Pretty messed up to be placed in the same sentence as Jimmy Savile when comparing conduct.
