wtf do you not read your tooltips
anyways yes, idk where people are getting Dawn doesn't stack from but HoT/DoTs always stack in every instance I can think of; and straight buff/debuffs overwrite/refresh duration except in a few instances where the tooltip indicates otherwise
The only exception is Medica IIs and Regens don't stack in PvP, don't remember if they did the same to Dawn too.
but lolpvp
I don't know if I hate the poetics cap or I'm grateful to have an excuse to stop grinding this week, lol. two weeks ago I was like "poetics cap? I'll never hit that!"
still don't have demon healing legs, either! sigh
Is nin an ok choice for someone coming back to the game that never really did a lot before when ARR came out?
I was going to say "Do whatever job floats your boat, no job is particularly difficult in this game" but then I remembered...
Take NIN to 30~40 and see how reliably you can execute your Mudras (Ninjutsu). Some peoples' connections make it very frustrating to play NIN.
questions for those who use retainers:
1) what is the best way to obtain ventures? keeping in mind that I'm level 50 on my main job.
2) what is the best way to spend ventures? I'd imagine either the quick exploration or field exploration but not sure which. quick seems like it has better rewards but they're also way more random, and it's more expensive to do repeatedly.
Daily Beasttribe quests get you free ventures and access to npc items you'll probably want(pets, mounts, crafting material, lore?).
GC seals can be spent on ventures
Treasure maps can net ventures
Allied seals can be spent on ventures but you probably aren't at this stage yet.
For what to spend them on, retainers level up when you send them out based on the type of venture. The most efficient is spamming the highest level 50(?) minute venture. If you can't do 4 of these a day, then Explorations are better. If you're feeling lucky, quick ventures can net you a lot of exp if they find rare items, but this is dependent on ilvl I think. I think its best to do regular ventures on the most valuable crafting items at least 4-5 times a day, then send them on an exploration before bed time.
I don't have any recommendations on what to spend on, but for getting ventures, just do beastman dailies.
Since this is the new player thread, I'll throw this out there in case you're unaware.
You can buy 5 ventures for 1000 GC seals (lowest rank section, materiels). This is where I get all my ventures. Ventures can also drop from Treasure Maps.
I'm biased but I think Miner and Botanist are the most useful retainers to have because of being able to gather decent amounts of stuff you don't want to waste the time gathering manually (gardening seeds for example) or the money buying on MB. Fisher follows closely behind if you like sharks for STR pots, or any of the 3 for their respective rare minions (Miniature Minecart, Littlefoot, Fat Cat).
Not to say that battle retainers are bad but I don't find they have as many desirable items to get (Raptor Sinew and other various leather items is about it) and I dislike the lower quantity compared to DoL retainers.
Across 4 characters I have 1 combat, 1 botanist, 2 miners, and 4 fishers. I check the fishers daily for Fat Cat and use the botanist for certain seeds for gardening, other ones I kind of forget to use these days.
And yeah, expert delivery -> buy ventures with seals is the most sane way unless you wanted to do beastmen dailies anyways.
ok, thanks. I haven't even touched the beastmen thing yet but it could be fun. I need a break from serious stuff after all that WoD.
I don't have any crafting classes unlocked and don't plan on it... so I'm stuck with combat ventures. sorry, I should have specified. for now anyway. but I have been curious about the beastmen stuff for a while so I think I'll look into that.
although all those benefits... I may have to think about leveling a crafting class. if I just open up a crafting class and then leave it, can I still use the retainer on that class?
They are.
Mob drops are abundant enough to make DoW ones pointless, FSH is kind of pointless as well considering how few fish they bring back per venture but fishing takes longer to do manually anyway (and so few fish are actually useful).
My main's retainers are MIN/BTN and my alt's are WAR/FSH, it doesn't have MIN/BTN leveled but I leveled FSH on it out of boredom and changed one of the retainers to FSH just for variety's sake really, thing's never brought me a fat cat but stuff like that is far from an eventuality.
20 allied seals for 5 ventures. I used to use GC seals but I find Hunts to be the best by far.
Might have to go back to mnk maybe, I'm on comcast and despite decent-good ping rates I get a lot of cases of lag/rubberbanding and such...
Well until you're around 35 it won't matter, but when you need to start casting Ninjutsu with 2/3 mudras, you're going to have a hell of a time with how slow it feels compared to being on a VPN.
beat Garuda EX first try last time... helped that my group knew exactly what they were doing.
Titan EX is next. not gonna lie; Titan EX makes me fucking nervous. watched some videos and that fight looks like an absolute shitshow.
