    That shouldn't have happened.
    I picked what is supposed to be a single-hit BP and used no DA gear (no gear at all actually), so unless Avatars have natural DA then all BPs should've been a solid single hit in all 100 attempts.

    I think there's just guards that explains those occasionally 3k damage BPs.
    If someone wants to math out my data, supposing there's anything useful in there, be my guest.

    There, BPs crit and have done so for at least two years.

    As for your data, for the first set:
    You probably had 43 non-crits and 7 crits (1 guarded crit), which gives you a critical hit rate of 14%. It's hard to say whether or not you were at capped dDEX.
    Spoiler: show
    X is the number of non-crits
    Y is the guard rate
    Z is the number of crits

    X*Y = 5
    Z*Y + X*(1-Y) = 39
    Z*(1-Y) = 6
    Z = 6/(1-Y)
    Y = 5/X

    30/(X*(1-5/X)) + X*(1-5/X) = 39
    30/(X-5) + X = 44
    30 + X*(X-5) = 44*(X-5)
    X^2 -49X + 250 = 0
    X = 43.2 or 6, so X = 43

    Guard procs are on BGwiki as reducing pDIF by 1, but there is no testing linked. I don't know how it works. It could be a static reduction% or it could be related to Attack/Def ratio. Either way, it looks like it was about a 25% reduction in damage for you for noncrits -> guarded non-crits. If it's a static reduction% then this would mean that one of your 4400-4600s was probably a demoted 6000~6300.

    For your second set:
    You probably had 38 non-crits and 12 crits, which works out to a 24% critical hit rate (pretty consistent with Crit rate +12%). This means that three of your 4400-4600s are could have been 6000-6300s that got demoted.
    Spoiler: show
    X is the number of non-crits
    Y is the guard rate
    Z is the number of crits

    X*Y = 6
    Z*Y + X*(1-Y) = 34
    Z*(1-Y) = 10
    Z = 10/(1-Y)
    Y = 6/X

    60/(X*(1-6/X)) + X*(1-6/X) = 34
    60/(X-6) + X = 40
    60 + X*(X-6) = 40*(X-6)
    X^2 - 46 X + 300 = 0

    X is 38.1 or some small number, so X = 38

    Here are your distributions:

    I would guess that Spinning Dive's native massive attack boost and Seraphicaller were combining to cap your Ratio, which is why you experience a relatively modest benefit from critical hits.

    I guess this is a good place to ask.

    With all the new Skirmish augments, I started to wonder about the difference between going MAB augments and going physical. Is the difference still large enough that focusing on magic is always going to be best? Or if you had perfect physical augments would that be situationally better? I haven't looked at the math in quite a while.

    In an ideal world where you have limitless resources and limitless inventory space you'd want two different BP sets, one with Mab and one with Att.
    If we're trying to stay a bit more on the realistic side, the ratio between Att and Mab is not even.
    1 Point of Mab will have a greater effect on Magical BPs than 1 point of Att will have on physical ones.
    Att does play a big role of course and you can easily see it when you start stacking -def debuffs from GEO (which provide a huge boost) but you need really large amounts for it to produce what I'd define interesting results.
    If you want to focus on one side, focus on Mab.

    With this amount of BP Damage gear I think it's been proved that Helios Body, with just 7% BP damage and 20+ Mab, can produce better results than Convoker Body (12% BP damage).
    There's some tests and a small discussion ongoing on the FFXIAH SMN thread.
    Crevox tested even Shomonjijoe+1 to be better than Convoker+1 when you manage to stack a lot of BP damage stat.
