taking cue from SO3??? SO3 is a good game and deserving of the SO title, and imma let the producer finish,

but SO2 is the greatest SO of all time. Of all fkn time. Every SO game after should only take cues from SO2.

The vibrant colorful world, the music, the art system, the content heavy gameplay, the crafting system....

but most of all, every SO game should have a mother fuckin team performing as an orchestra.

The VAST majority of the Japanese audience has yet to buy a PS4. So japanese companies release Japanese games on PS3. Less than a million sold in Japan. Where as PS3 has over 10 million sales in Japan.

While so2s and 1s item creation hasn't aged incredibly well, they were much better than the atrocity that was 3s. 4... Eh. I honestly barely remember it.

I do miss the talents and other skills, though.

I hope we get 4 character battles. (3 had 3 iirc?)

I wouldn't, considering story = the same tropes as always and gameplay tweaks are few and far between within these series. At this point I'd rather see what they'd do on a nextgen platform than a rehash of what I know them to have already been doing for the last decade or so.

Aside from FFXV and Square, I honestly wonder what a next gen JRPG looks like. Disgaea doesn't really count since they never advance their engine anyway.

The website has gone live, and it was the teased one everyone thought it was.

Theres also a short trailer, the majority of which recaps SO1-4 in timeline order. The last 30 seconds or so kind of gives some clues to the game. Something very close to the Tree of Sephiroth makes up the background logo design, while something that looks strangly like the SEELE 7 eyed mask from Evangelion sits in the center.

I do think it curious that the trailer "traveled" along one tunnel, instead of many that would of happened during 4. Maybe they really are trying to ret-con it out of existence, though thats probably reading too much into it.

As long as the battle system is similar to Last Hope's, I'm good. The story (probably?) can't get much worse than SO4, but I still liked SO4.

SO4 story has literally no redeeming qualities, SO3 story has the best build up and most tension and even the twist isn't that bad since it basically creates another universe. I dunno what immersion was broken. I didn't particularly like that all the tension faded after the twist but holy shit is it miles better than 4.

Why can't we all be glad there are still JPRG's being made? Especially for console.

I for one am looking forward to this. 3 and 4's story be damn. I enjoyed the heck outta both gameplay. Even if the gameplay in 5 is the same as previous iterations I'll enjoy it nonetheless. Consider me hyped!
