I'm looking for a new headset because my logitech G35 is dying. I'm mainly using it for skype, gaming, music and movies so I would love to have surround sound and all that jazz and I'm also willing to throw down some dollars so any ideas?

If "throw down some dollars" means up to $250 then Astro A40s. I've been using it since 2009 and zero regrets.
I have the corsair h2100 and love them
I bought a Kingston HyperX Cloud headset at pax east, and absolutely love it.
I've used the previous revision of these for a long time, and still running strong. Mic and sound quality is really good.

Get sennheiser cans for 100-150 and a 10$ zalman clip on mic and it'll be better than any option listed.
Don't buy anything labeled headset. You want headphones and a mic. Search function will render you like a hundred threads on it.
As much as I want to disagree with Boyiee he's pretty much right. And if you do any sizable amount of Skype/Podcasting/Twitch streaming then upgrade to the zalman mic to something like a Blue Yeti or Snowball.
Gaming headsets are generally crap, no matter what features are advertised.
Like Boyiee suggested, get real headphones that allow you to get an inline mic via swappable cables. Personally I use the V-Moda M-100, and via swappable cables use it for everything (music on my phone, PC, and all my consoles).

I used the sennheiser hd555's or whatever they were for years and the cheap zalman mic. My voice chat was the clearest of anyone in the channel and my sound for music games and movies were VASTLY superior.
Now I use the HD650 and well, there's no comparison.
Gaming headsets are typically cheap headphones paired with cheap mics sold for a premium together. Any cheap $10 mic like the zalman are going to sound perfectly fine, so spend the extra money on sound and get nice headphones. You'll end up with a superior end product that you'll be happier with. Focus on sound quality first, even if you aren't big on music, any mic will sound good and you'll be happier.
Get a good headset and a microphone.

fantastic clip on mic. most comfortable headphones and highest quality i've ever had.
Go to the V-Moda site, only $30 for the boompro. I use V-Moda cables with my Beyerdynamic dt990 and COP and they work great.
Edit: If you go with any of the Sennheiser headphones you can't use V-moda cables. Sennheiser uses 2.5 mm plugs on the earcups instead of 3.5 mm.
Buuuump.
I've been researching headsets because I need to buy one pronto for a job. I need a headset that will be comfortable to wear for many hours a day (preferably medium to lightweight) with a reliable microphone, crisp sound quality both in and out, max I can spend is around $150. Preferably usb but I may be able to get a jack>usb adapter if I need to.
Unfortunately, I don't have much experience with headsets because I never owned an all-in-one (always had my choice of headphones with separate mic for gaming) so I'm hoping someone around here can recommend a really comfy, reliable and clear headset to me. For reference, I have a pair of audio-technica (ATH-M30) headphones that hurt like a bitch to wear after a few hours because they press against my ears. I'm hoping to avoid that scenario here. Any help is appreciated :D
With the specific features you're looking for, I'd recommend the HyperX Cloud II.
I looked at that one, and while it does look good I have seen many complaints about the removable microphone being flimsy and breaking or otherwise malfunctioning badly. I'm very wary of those for that reason.
You can get the Logitech G35 or 930 but those are heavier than the Clouds.

I got 'em. I love 'em. Really expensive and probably not your thing if you're a huge audiophile.
Parroting once again that you should just buy a real pair of headphones and get some kind of addon microphone
He stated that he normally does that, but that he's specifically looking for a USB all-in-one.
