Hibike Euphonium

Summary: Hibike! Euphonium begins when Kumiko Oumae, a girl who was in the brass band club in junior high school, visits her high school's brass band club as a first year. Kumiko's classmates Hazuki and Sapphire decide to join the club, but Kumiko sees her old classmate Reina there and hesitates. She remembers an incident she had with Reina at a brass band club contest in junior high school.

Music anime with...actual music! It's not a great amount so far, but it sounds nice, the characters are cute and fun to watch (some more than others). People liken this to K-On (I mean, just look at it), but so far I like it more just based on music.

By far. I've got kind of mixed feelings as far as the four main characters are concerned (some interactions have been downright cringeworthy), but I really, really like the entire club as a whole. Well, and Asuka.

I like Hazuki and Sapphire/Midori too, more so Sapphire but I'm generally not feeling the main girl and her girl crush. Apart from them I think it's all good.

I don't have any problems with Kousaka. She reminds me of Mio. Shy/hard working.

Hazuki gives me the Ritsu feeling.

Sapphire is pretty cool. I like her.

I'm not feeling Kumiko at all though. Weakest in the main cast by far in my opinion. I hope she gets some character development that will change my opinion on her.

Yeah, decided to watch the first episode this weekend and then couldn't stop until I saw everything that came out. Definitely in the Asuka club.

Episode 6 is probably my favourite one so far. Kumiko and Reina are also starting to interact like normal people, so my only complaint goes out of the window.

I only made it to episode 2. It was too damn slow, couldn't imagine it would get better. As opposed to Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso that was great from the get go. I guess I'll retry it after finishing Denki-gai no Honya-san. Never watched K-On! either so I need to do that too. I hope I can get it all from nyaa but didn't see a lot of seeders for it.

Can't really compare it to ShigaUso. Totally different animes aside from the fact that they both revolve around a music theme. I don't remember if it's episode 3 or 4 (I think 3) but right around when Kousaka plays her trumpet in defiance of everyone not practicing is more or less when the series started getting really good for me. So yeah, if you can tough out another episode or 2, you might turn as far as your opinion of the show goes.

And don't worry about K-On!. That show is... too moe'centric

I actually started watching K-on!(!) since everyone is comparing Hibike to it and I'm really liking it. It's not too overkill on the moe and Yui and Mio are great.

I personally looooooved this new episode. Especially compared to last week's which was kind of a downer in comparison to how good the show has gotten. Episode 8 (this week) was fantastic in so many different ways.

Yes, great episode. I really like how they approached and presented all the various emotions. And the whole mountain hike was so weird but intriguing at the same time.
