Advice for upgrading computer hardware

I would like advice on how to optimize what i got. I have a budget of 1k that i am willing to put into it. Gaming and videos are the main focus.

There's a thread for that.

That being said, your video card is probably your weakest component. You could buy a GTX 980 and call it a day, or you could opt to shift to an Intel platform by buying an i5/i7 CPU, LGA 1150 board to support it (I believe your RAM is already DDR3 so you could transfer that over), and still have about enough to afford a GTX 980. You didn't post anything about your storage situation so I can't comment about that.
