Fewer, larger maps, Gameplay is similar to DS2http://gematsu.com/2015/06/dark-soul...s-larger-scaleWhat’s the world of Dark Souls III like?
Miyazaki: “The sense of something having ended, or destruction, is stronger.”
Are there any changes to the basic design?
“Dark Souls III follows closely from II, so we kept the handy things from II.”
Regarding actions or weapons
“We’ve expanded the character builder and tactical options without sacrificing the feel of the series. We added new action elements that contribute to the sense of role-playing. For instance, we adopted the concept of rapid fire for the short bow, and the animation between rolling and walking has been smoothed out.
“The speed of the action is slightly increased compared to the previous two games and balanced so you can move intuitively. I don’t think we’re going to employ the idea of agility, otherwise the action would be stressful until you raise your stats.
“There are slightly less maps than Dark Souls II, but each of the maps are on a much larger scale.”

From the trailer it seemed pretty clear it was a direct sequel to Dark Souls 2. I suppose now we'll get some closure on the whole Emerald Herald business and maybe even get to see Child Shanalotte that was dummied out in Dark Souls 2.
It looked to me like that was Anor Londo in ruins to me, which could mean it's a bridging game between 1 & 2 or its after 3 but takes place in actual Lordran. But also, the dude at the end really resembles a giant with the hollow face and all. Of course, all this doesn't really mean shit because we all saw how much of the ds2 reveal trailer actually had to do with the final release of the game.
Is Dark Souls 2 worth playing? I kept hearing about the game forcing you into human form so I have to put up with fuckers invading me and that killed my interest.
It's worth playing. Invading can happen whether you're human or hollow, so there's no longer a benefit to staying hollow. Lower health, and no PC/NPC assistance is all you'll get while hollowed, for the most part.
It's not amazing compared to the feel of Dark 1, Demons or even Bloodborne, but it's fun to play, lots of options and stuff to fuck around with and while the majority of bosses are easy shitlords there are a few that stand out (and the DLC areas are especially fun and frantic).
Generally DS2's problem is either to throw more enemies at you for no reason or has easy ass humanoid knight bosses because O&S were so popular. It feels like it forces to to cheese the game with broken builds/magic/weapons but when you see the shit the game throws at you you'll understand the need to break the game.
DS2 is worth playing. I played through all of DS1, loved it beyond belief. Decided to play DS2 right after, didn't catch my interest at all. Needed some down time to come off that DS1 high. After a few months or so I tried it again and loved it as well. I think DS1 was just incredible and can't be replicated but DS2 does come close. I thought it was better than Bloodborne but maybe that's just me. Bloodborne felt really short, even not knowing what I was doing. DS2 feels a lot longer if you don't use a guide or anything it can take quite a while.
TLDR; DS1 >> DS2 >> Bloodborne for me.
If any of you EU members of BG are going to Gamescom, it will be playable there.

A few tears just dropped in my coffee.
Yay for simultaneous PC release this time. Having to wait a month and a half for DS2 on PC was balls.
I was crossing my fingers for like a March 2016 release, expecting it to actually come out in like October 2016. So, hooray!
Closed Beta Test for network stability, multiplayer and game balance is now open for applications.

Forewarning that there is a clause in there about no streaming, pictures, etc.
Didn't see this in the thread. The fight looks a bit easy, but the combat is so fluid now. I love it.
lol, he didn't even get the thing down to 3/4 and we're calling it easy already?
I have a feeling that given the boss's name... we've seen nothing in that clip.
There has GOT to be a phase change.
So as someone who has played 0 of the dlc for dark souls 2 (and never finished it either, i quit before the last boss even though i was OP) how relatable is the story going to be do you think? is the DLC something i absolutely have to play or what?
