I can't even tell what I'm looking at.
Yeah the screenshot isn't great above, but look at this one from FFV and then look at the screenshot again, you'll see it.

Yea I had to stare at it for a minute to see that the pink glowy thing is the top of a head coming out of the book.
Sad to say I look forward to the actual fight mechanics being woefully simple and uninteresting despite the wide range of potential things they could have done with it because it's not coil and thus cannot be challenging.
Oh man. Oooooh man. Hype is slowly building. Very slowly, but I'm looking forward.
I was hoping for the FFIX version
FFV is one of my Top 3 Final Fantasy games, so I'm loving the love that they are giving to it in this MMO. It seems just about everything Sharlayan related will have a FFV nostalgia feel to it.
FFV is such underated, the graphics were worst then IV and VI imo but the overall the game was a blast
I'd say IV and V are pretty close in terms of graphics and still in favor of V. It's definitely one of my favorite games due to the job system.
I was underwhelmed by V due to the shitty plot and same face graphics in comparison to IV. I felt they looked far too similar in an era where every game, even for the same system, seemed to differ graphically. The job system, however, was excellent, and FFV had one of the strongest midgames, IMO, in the entire series. You always felt very strong because you had so many jobs to choose from, and you always seemed to get more before you were even close to maxing out a current one, which kept me wanting to play and progress. The game's plot felt much better once you got to the second world, but man, that initial slog through world 1 was... very bleh when compared to IV.
Of course, I am heavily biased because I fell in love with IV long before I knew V was even a thing: I, like many others, went straight from "II" to "III", not realizing that there were other games we missed until a few years later via the internet.
I liked it well enough. I just quit playing it because the GBA version's audio is terrible and I think it kept me from really enjoying the game. The music was huge in IV and VI in engaging me and it just didn't work in FF5A. I should probably try Anthology sometime (or a translated ROM) and see if I like it better.
Stay away from Anthology.
I get confused sometimes with Sharlayan when I'm doing these translations... the place is called Sharlayan, so what is the adjective for something from Sharlayan? Just "Sharlayan"? Sharlayanian? Something else? Idk wtf
Yeah, someone from Sharlayan is Sharlayan. Their clothes, mannerisms, etc are Sharlayan. Not to be confused with Sharlayan or Sharlayan, two similar but distinct city-states in Hydaelyn.
I'm pretty sure they're just intentionally being ridiculous with it now and it amuses me tbh
(I base this off the phrase "Sharlayan marriage" which means "much suffering which culminates in charming offspring and at least one death")
The GBA port was okay too, despite the sound problems. The extras were, like in many games, a lot of fluff, I didn't really dig the 2 (or it was 3?) extra jobs they added. Other tha that, FFV is one of my favourite FF games. The job system was the key on me liking it so much, but the overall lighter tone of the adventure, and the way your options on where to go towards the end of the game expanded (a hint of what would happen with FFVI later) contributed a lot. Also, the plot of FFIV is pretty cliché and simplistic, while being entertaining enough, so I don't know how people can ditch FFV's plot so quickly and instead praise FFIV's so much. I know, I know, opinions + nostalgia, but still.
IMO FFVI > FFV > FFVII. While I'll agree with anyone who states the plot of FFV was weak compared to others, the gameplay itself and it's mid game grind is one of the best in the FF series. It's also the first game with true character customization as well -- FFIII has it as well, but V is far more intricate.
To be fair, the FFV picks up like a boss when Exdeath comes into play.
Stop copying me, Sho.
Can't help it the man speaks the truth. Well, they both do.
To add to that, FF5 had what was easily one of the best character themes in the entire franchise!
GBA port had the sound patch, but if I remember right that only worked for the music.
