    Reinstalled windows, fonts don't look cirsp anymore

    I reinstalled windows/ffxi after reinstalling my fonts look different. before they looked nice and crisp and now they look different. After reinstalling I put back my old files, ffxiview dats I had before. Any ideas why?

    They added HQ fonts at some point. Go poke around in your game settings.

    Probably Truetype fonts.

    in the FFXI config program there is a tab that has a about 3 options for compressed, high compressed, uncompressed. Might be where you want to look. Ive never really understood what they did, game looks the same to me pretty much always. I am kinda curious if one of these options would lessen the load on my PC (currently playing on a shittier PC than I usually do) and which ones would look better (or whatever the point is behind these options) Any thing I have read in the past was kinda confusing what did what.

    Yeah, even their help wasn't very good at explaining some of the options. In general though, uncompressed should always look better.

    Would uncompressed make PC performance better though? Also for some reason I remember the thing SE did for fonts was more for the names that hover over our heads looking better. The chat log fonts I never can tell the difference between 6s and 8s on any of my PCs. having the game at the same resolution as the monitor helped. especially if in borderless windowed mode.

    No, for better performance you want to choose compressed. In simple terms = the more compressed graphics, the less system load.
