Fighting with OBS

For the last three hours I have been trying to stream using OBS. For most of that time I was trying to use crossfire, but have learned OBS doesn't like fullscreen. I restarted everything and logged into Far Cry 4 using borderless mode and I saw my stream. I tried going into Fallout NV, but couldn't replicate. I then go back into FC 4 and even in borderless or windowed mode I now just get a black screen. If I start a game with fullscreen enabled I get a black screen. Any idea how to fix this?

Ok I have no idea how/what/why but after numerous delete/redownloan, messing with dxtory, etc etc I was able to get a stable stream using crossfire and fullscreen. For whatever reason it will not show in the preview pane or if the game was minimized. As soon as I went into the game the stream came up (was watching from my tv). I don't get it, but as long as it works that's what matters.
