Speakers going bad, UGH. Anyone have any suggestions?

So okay. I was playing FFXIV when suddenly the left ear on my headset seemed to go out.

Usually that means eww, I need a new headset. (And since I paid more than usual for it, I was about to pitch a fit!) But this time when I tested with a known good pair of headphones(Well, after I suffered though it since it was in Brayflox Longstop when it started), it turned out it's not the headset. It's the speakers that I had the headphone portion plugged into that are going bad.

I got the headset direct plugged into my PC ports for now so I got sound, but..Guys, are there any good suggestions on PC speakers that won't cost me a bundle? Thanks.

Pioneer speakers that go on sale pretty often
The newer set, although I'm not sure if they're any better
A little amp that isn't amazing but does the job
Y cable
some wire

I use this exact set up and managed to get it for about $60 once it was all said and done. As of right now, it will run you about $110ish. Sounds better than any computer speaker I've heard.

Thanks Fairy. I'll look into it and also check local. Sheesh, what a time for my speakers to go bad. Or at least the headphone jack on them, bleh.
