    Changes look tight, but I don't entirely understand why SE randomly throws weird downsides on Warrior abilities. Would the new Parry spell be overpowered if it didn't have the positional-crit vulnerability thing? Why can't we gain TP back from Equilibrium in Defiance stance?

    I don't want to sound bitchy or anything, because I think that on the whole the class rules, but it is weird that between these and Berserk and Holmgang, SE feels the need to put drawbacks on a lot of our spells for some reason. Is it a flavour thing?

    I think they want to encourage either flexibility (all tanks can perform MT role the whole fight or OT role the whole fight with near-equal capability), or FLEXIBILITY (encourage tanks to trade off MT and OT, so OT can do stuff like restore TP on WAR or restore MP on DRK).

    Just my interpretation though.

    Keep in mind that drawback on WAR's parry skill isn't a drawback at all if you stack it with Awareness.

    I'm feeling like its twofold:

    1) Warrior has always (for as long as classes had actual abilities) had a connection with Berserkers, with one or the other class having abilities that enhanced offense while nerfing defense. As Warrior in XIV is essentially a Nordic Viking with inspirations from other real-world figures, this theme makes sense; sacrificing one thing to gain a lot of another.
    2) To get us to cross-class abilities that negate the drawbacks of main class abilities. Awareness, a cross-class ability, completely negates the drawbacks. Its a brilliant move, as they took an ability that had situational uses and turned it into an ability that can be used every time its up, to amazing effect.

    I wouldn't call one ability for PLD a "heavy focus on MP." Especially not if Riot Blade still only restores less than the cost of a single Flash.

    What I mean by heavy focus is that there are more things using MP to free up time for TP to regen. Pld is using more MP than it was before, which means its using less TP than it was before.

    When you mouse over the buff for Wrath it says it increases chance to Parry, but I'm not seeing my Parry stat on my character sheet change at all. I'm also not seeing a bonus to crit for having Abandon stacks.

    The Crit bonus doesn't affect your Critical Hit Rate stat directly, it just gives a direct buff to Critical Hit Rate in general. For example say at 500 critical hit rate you have about a 20% chance to crit (random numbers) with full Abandon you'll have a 30% chance to crit. Same deal with Parry.

    Yeah, been doing some 2-tank dungeons, clear faster than most shit pugs. Once you get Equilibrium at 58 the TP regen is great for AoE spam too.

    WAR tanking is really interesting now. Raw Intuition functions as a Rampart on anything non-magical (so it really depends on what we see in Alex). Equilibrium is extremely powerful, seeing 5k crits at 58. Berserk rotations with triple Fell Cleave are pretty amazing too, and can be done relatively safely due to all the new defensive options we have. I'm honestly a bit worried about a nerf here, but it seems the general populace still doesn't really understand WAR, so I'm hoping we'll fly under the radar for a while.

    I am a bit annoyed at whoever decided to replace Crit with Parry on Wrath stacks. Nobody is going to hold on to Wrath for Parry, so it's a very minor mitigation boost that might as well not even be there. It doesn't matter much, but it makes you wonder about what SE is thinking when they design things sometimes.

    Considering I can't play XIV until I fix my computer, I want to ask for anyone with parsers, how is your DPS in comparison to the specialized jobs? Assuming Off-tanking or full DPS.

    Any numbers pre-60 are going to be pretty meaningless, the differences in people's gear are going to be huge and we don't even have any kind of baseline for what the new normal level of performance is (for WAR or any other job).

    More importantly the new skills were obviously designed and balanced around eachother, so without all of them at 60 things are no doubt going to look wonky (ie. BLM doesn't get Fire IV and PLD doesn't get Royal Authority till 60, but WAR gets FC at 54).
