Its fine no harm done, We've missed 3 weeks worth of progression due to whm/dps slots needing to be filled for that amount of time. We were lucky to find a good whm, I still think our smn is subpar but w/e we'll make it work I guess. We only run 2 days a week for 2 hours or less depending, static has a new born baby so that can become chaotic during runs when he gets fussy on TS.

We run with a pld so no aoe dmg coming from that source, throw in the subpar smn and you get why I want to employ any tactics necessary to ensure consistent wins til they figure out their own way of doing it, like more dps....

Im basically in the same boat as you Hitoseijuro a2s can be very tough with a pld and sub par aoe/raid damage. We have to pug all the time and the time we pug the best Drk on the server (he was bored) we got our clear because he was outputting 1100 dps. When we do not have a tank putting that damage out we ran into enrage, even when I am putting out 1700 dps with no bard or mch in our group. Though I am sure I could do more, it is difficult with no mp/foe in the raid

Yea I feel you, we do get mp/foe with our group, our group is mage heavy (smn blm sch so we get a bard) so as a monk with no other buffs helping me out(TA/Battle/mch) I have to be on robot duty so that the bard can provide buffs, while Im 2nd or at time 1st(think with progression its gone down a bit) dps before the swap, with foe up its a different story, so im ok with that. Currently I jump in the robot in the middle of wave 5 and have it so I'm available for wave 9.

man 1100 dps , thats so nice to have from a tank, thats not even high when you compare what wars are doing on that floor. Our pld isnt even close to that, not even by half or a third I want to say, but I dont really parse that floor too much so Id rather not have him crash and burn since I already hit on his dps like a dead horse with a stick.

That being said, since this is a warrior thread, Id like to get any tips on how I can get our war's dps even higher.

Do you guys use your offense stance the whole time til a certain wave? full str acc ? Any specific rotation? I have maurader at level 26, I know absolutely jack about the job past that point.

Our WAR has always done full time Deliverance until the 4 Jagd Dolls, Defiance until 1 of his dies there and then back to Deliverance, Defiance again for the final wave until it's safe to turn it off again. Accessory choice is entirely dependent on your left side gear and how competent your healers are, you don't need much HP for A2S, especially if he's doing the "offtank" role where your stuff typically dies very quickly anyway.

WARx2 has to be best for A2S. LB bar is a non factor and WAR is built for it.

I HATE everyone that says PLD is so good when it is by far the single worst job for A2S.

PLD is only good in that "hey look I have Hallowed" and I didn't feel like learning how to budget my DRK MP while learning the wave pickups.

I just did A1S on WAR iLv187 (instead of DRK iLv195) the other tank is a PLD. Holy hell, thinking of swapping back to WAR now.

WAR is my most neglected Tank.

When you can do everything I just feel a little bored, mechanically, the MP management of DRK is one reason why I love it so much. A shame really, as I love the savage fury feel of being a WAR.

What? If you wanna micromanage MP that's one thing, but WAR takes a lot of thought to play well.

    I guess, lol.

The only real thought Warrior takes is how to adjust your rotation for the fights mechanics to make your CD's come up at the right times.

A few runs through a fight and you get this, and you're usually wiping due to other people well before you actually get in a position to kill something anyway so...by your actual kill on anything the rotation should be nailed down.

Not that this isn't the case with other classes - since Warrior doesn't have a TP constraint anymore, literally all your 'brainpower' goes into when to use a CD and how to stay alive in STR gear and those aren't particularly difficult tasks if you've ever played a DPS class before.

WAR is by far the easiest/smoothest/most fun tank to play. The thought all goes into maximizing DPS which is fun for most people. They have zero hate issues (see PLD) there stack management is well thought out and easy (see DRK).

Anyone have a quick and dirty on how to handle single-enemy/boss encounters these days? About to 60 WAR, and IIRC you guys used to do your rotation/Berserk/stacks in very specific ways back in the day

    Please and thank you 'o'

All this and I find it delicious how well equilibrium actually works in practical scenerios. Both sides of it are useful, with a crit-able HP restore on one side and a TP steroid on the other. I remember the old days of trying to hold max hate on mass enemies through overpower while trying to weave in a few combos for buffs/debuffs, and running dry after awhile. I don't think I've bottomed out on TP since getting that move.

Consider this a cry for help. I think my dps is "good enough" - I still manage to beat most of the DF players I come across, but I'm still falling considerably short of some of the scores posted here, on a dummy using str accs (none from A1S yet, since we've only recently started clearing it) I'm just barely able to get 1k dps without food or str pots. So I have a few questions.

    1. How much does maintaining fracture affect dps? at the moment I'm only really using it when berserk is up, and whenever I have 5 stacks and it won't break a combo, otherwise I use cleave to avoid "wasting" stacks.

    2. I've seen some 2 cleave berserk opening rotations with RI+Vengeance being used to pre-buff stacks. Obviously this nets higher initial dps, but how does it compare overall to a 3 cleave berserk used after a more standard opener?

(For reference the opener I'm currently using is Eye combo > Brutal Swing > Butchers combo > Heavy Swing > IR > Berserk > Cleave > Infuriate > Cleave > Eye combo > RI > Butchers combo > Fracture > Cleave.)

    3. How much is latency affecting my dps? I'm playing from the UK, and most of my EU based FC have reported some latency related issues at some point. My main concern is how much SS I need to maintain a reliable 9 hit berserk, currently around the 600 mark. A few FC members are considering a move once the EU data centre goes live, and if it'll make me more competitive I'm willing to make the move too.

If I've missed out any vital info, please say, and as always, thanks in advance!

There is more than one way to skin the cat on WAR.

Can you fit 9 hits into Zerk? If so your latency is fine.

I always use the same opener, using high burst openers will depend on your tank partner since WAR can produce crazy hate even in Deliverance.

    Eye > BB > Frac > STR pot > Heavy > IB+zerk > FC > Infuriate > FC > Veng or Raw > Maim > eye > BB combo > Fracture > FC

I use facture outside of zerk and if I can fit in during zerk without interrupting FC or a combo like above.

Yes, but it takes a lot more skill speed then appears to be normal. I've seen 510-520 listed as the minimum to get the job done, but at 580 it's unreliable at best, and I find I need 600 to get it reliably. I would have thought that the action queue system would have eliminated the latency difference, but it doesn't seem to be the case, no matter how I time berserk (about 3/4 the way through the gcd). It's horrible seeing that last cleave get interrupted by pacifiy mid animation.

Otherwise it appears I do things a very similar way as you. At this point latency is the only thing I can think of.

what you want to do to ensure it goes through is use one ogcd right before berserk. so let's say you do 1 > berserk > 2.

instead you would wanna do 1 > bloodbath > berserk > 2 and that should ensure you get it right. if it's still not 9 hitting then your latency issues are pretty bad.

As OT in A3S (Progression), I have been using:

Eye > Path (STR Pot before SP) > IR+Zerk > FC > Infuriate > FC > Veng > Eye > Path > FC (generally I use Stun after Eye Combos)

This has given me good results and giving the DPS someone to push them. I could do this with 490+ SS fairly reliably.

    BUT

Looking at Taint's rotation it definitely has a higher potency (even if you switch BB for SP). I think I will be trying it out to see how it feels. My main concern is losing combo during the double FC, not due to a combo breaker, but due to time.

As far as latency goes, I hear 470 SS is the minimum, but I wasn't able to consistently pull off the 9th hit. At 530 it was a breeze. I live about 600 miles from Montreal and have decent ping, but nothing stellar. I would try to focus in on SS and find what works best for your connection. I just isolated the SS stat and stood at a dummy until I found what was best. I was putting on old gear just for the SS to find the comfort zone.

    Hope this helps.
