    Vizio TV Odd Issue

Been having trouble with my TV remote. I have a Vizio Smart TV and lately when I press a button, it won't stop sending the command to the TV.

Example: Volume UP: Won't stop until the volume maxes, and then the TV stops responding to all other commands from the remote or on TV buttons.

Example: Change Input: The input channel will cycle forever and the TV stops responding to all other commands from the remote or TV buttons.

Anyone know what could be up with this?

Dunno, my Vizio Smart TV(M series) likes to shut off randomly. It's fucking annoying.

Does it do the same thing when you use the buttons on the tv itself? If so, your tv lost some brain cells and isn't so smart anymore (is there a way to disable that shit from ever activating?), if not then your remote might be messing up - try out another remote (like another universal or find a replacement remote on ebay/etc).

Luckily it's only the remote. We got around it by using the Universal Remote app on our smart phones.

If you can manage to split your remote it's most likely one of those membrane/matrix style remotes. I'd imagine something got stuck inside of it and gummed it up at some point (be it dust, beer, soda whatever) and is causing this particular issue. If there are screws just unscrew it and clean the membranes with some 90%+ isopropyl alcohol (or even just some windex can do the trick), if there aren't screws you can probably try using a hair-dryer to take care of the epoxy holding the two halves together or just get a new universal remote and call it a day.

Mine does that only when connected to the internet. I'm pretty sure at this point that it's the firmware updating.

Is there a new one out? I haven't run it(unless it automatically does it).
