    So Brd got nerfed, Mch got buffed.

    I don't understand this though.

    "An issue wherein the buff icon for “Protect” was not correct if cast by a white mage."

    Is it just a change to the icon, or did WHM get a change to their Protect ability?

    I wouldn't say BRD got nerfed. The potency drops are in line with the adjustments to WM/Gauss. Very slightly more in the case of BRD, very slightly less for MCH.

    BRD just got nerfed out of WM.

    Pre 3.0 WHM's Protect was an enhanced one and the icon also changed to reflect this (there were less of "beehive cocoon" effects in the icon)
    I suspect, but I never noticed, post 3.0 the icon is still of this one when cast by a WHM.

    But the new icon was there at first due to Shell trait, and since that is gone now, I don't see why WHM should get a different icon
    unless i'm missing something

    I believe the bug/error/issue was that when a WHM casted Protect, the icon would be of the new one with the Shell trait, randomly (I never noticed). Now, the icon is consistently the one without the Shell trait, but has Shell built in.

    I haven't seen the old Proshell icon since the changes to protect.

    They should have used that one instead of the NQ protect icon, looks better.

    Also lol @ BRD changes.

    The patch notes were worded incorrectly.

    In 3.0, everyone (including WHM) had the icon for Proshell-less (gimped) Protect.
    Now, everyone has the icon for Proshell Protect.

    I don't really see how it's a bard nerf lol.

    Looks like some people can't math well. They basically added some mobility and lowered the potency of other moves to compensate for the 10% increase in WM damage.

    It's less of a nerf and more of a 'We'll show you for not using WM! You will use it and you will like it!'

    It's a nerf in the sense that if you play BRD 2.0 style you are doing less damage through the Sidewinder potency drop. Which is a pretty ridiculous drop when you consider it is less overall potency (effectively 325) with WM up now than it was with it down pre change (350). It also makes me laugh because it's not ok for BRD to have a high potency ability but it's fine for all the other jobs.

    It's also a 'nerf' because it makes BRD not fun. It forces WM usage whilst not giving the DPS of other jobs. So basically equates to why bother playing BRD when you can suffer the WM penalties on another job and do way more damage.


    EDIT: Keep in mind WM blocks you out of oGCD spamming and loses your AA. So prior to this change using WM was a DPS loss. This change equates to a minir DPS increase for the loss of mobility whilst also being a nerf when not using WM

    The bottom line is that if you want BRD to suffer the same penalties as other DPS then you need to give them the DPS to match. This gives them the penalties whilst still having them woefully behind all the other DPS jobs.

    I mean let's put this into perspective. A DD tank is going to be on par with BRD DPS. Yet they have less mobility issues plus have defensive tools. Sure BRD get songs but the tank gets debuffs which are just as good. So basically it wouldn't be farfetched to take a DD build WAR over a BRD right now. Right now the main reason to take BRD is you need ballad or you're using all mage DPS.

    Er, I always thought SMN was fairly mobile class already due to their several insta-cast abilitles? Probably the most mobile of all the casters actually...

    The longer a fight goes on the more likely you will need ballad...

    ..and with Brd dps your fight will be longer
