I've always secretly believed that SE has some sort of emotion parsing engine that skews the success rate of drops and rolls towards what would be the least useful and/or most infuriating; the more you care or want something to drop, the less likely it is.

I've had two experiences with similar results for my old static WAR. We did 13 runs for his feet one week and ~12 for his legs the next. We were PUGing 1-2 DPS and they won every lot over him. It was nuts. More the likely RNG but we were WTFing that night.

We also know SE does fluff things. Like the server is full message every night during prime time. If you cancel it and log in again you go right in without the wait.

That's not a fluff thing. When congested, the servers let people through in waves. If the wave size is greater than the queue size and you cancel + re-enter during the next wave, you'll get in. Have a friend log in simultaneously, one of you cancels, one doesn't, and you'll see that you both get in at the same time.
