I noticed this on the update notes tonight:

The name of the blue magic spell Pyric Bulwark has been adjusted to Polar Bulwark. (Added on 7/15/2014)

I dont have this spell learned, but a LS mate said his says Pyric still. Does anyone else have Polar? Did this change from physical to magical?

    Pyric and Polar Bulwark (7/14)
(Japanese only issue but it's kinda weird since this wasn't done in the English client)
The blue magic pointed out, "Pyric Bulwark" being changed to "Polar Bulwark" is not a glitch (The effect is the same as before). This was not included in the version update notes, so we apologize for the confusion.
To explain, the Hydra abilities Pyric Bulwark and Polar Bulwark being reversed was fixed in the July Update, and along with this the corresponding spell Pyric Bulwark was changed to Polar Bulwark to match the monster's technique.
You have nothing to worry about.

No testing needed. Subduction kiting = new thing, solo Outer Ra'Kaznar skirmish all day!

But in all seriousness, didn't notice any significant cast time oddities. Erratic Flutter is about identical to Animating Wail.

Subduction casts pretty fast, which allows you to kite something indefinitely if they're susceptible to gravity (can cast from as far as 11 yalms away depending on mob size).

Thrashing Assault costs a bit of MP, haven't seen it do all that much more than Amorphic Spikes or Quadratic Continuum. It makes Fusion with CDC I believe.

Damage type I believe is viewable in game, at least for physical spells they tell you (P/S/B).

    Can't say about modifiers.

Still would need testing for those stat mods... though I think some of it might be done not sure

Subduction is so much fun in so many places for me atm the fast recast and aoe damage per mp is pretty sweet.

Haven't gone back for 150/300/350 fTP points but would be surprised if it didnt go 1.25 -> 1.5 -> 1.75 -> 2 like QC, maybe a little higher than that. 5fTP @ 0 TP isnt bad though. Also never finished data on WSC but what I have matches 32/32 STR/DEX

didnt the Dev team just state lately, that the modifiers on the newer spells were hold low for burst/chain affinity?

EDIT: Nvm camate was only mentioning burst affinity, here is the post

    Newer spells and Burst Affinity
We’ve been seeing requests to make it so the magic-based blue magic spells introduced post-Adoulin can be used with Burst Affinity. The spells added after Adoulin have a lot of power on their own, and in exchange for setting their base power very high, we’ve made it so status modifiers cannot be applied. Due to this, when using these spells with Burst Affinity their power does not increase.

However, due to the overall adjustments made to weapon skills in the June version update, we expect there to be more opportunities for skill chains, so we would like to look into revamping the status modifiers.

magic spells. that's why Subduction has no WSC and in extension, that's why Subduction is not affected by Burst Affinity. the same is true for embalming earth, retinal glare, droning whirlwind, and tempestuous upheaval.

I figure this is the best place to ask:

For /NIN sub, what is the minimum spells / point values to maximize Dual Wield and open room for other spells?

For /WAR sub, what is the minimum spells / point values to maximize Double / Triple Attack and open room for other spells?

if I am not mistaken(please correct), /nin gives dual wield 3, which is the max BLU can reach with its trait when not /NIN. so there is no need to set any dualwield spells for BLU when being /NIN.

for /WAR sub you would still need to set thrashing assault + 2 other double attack spells to get triple attack, empty trash and heavy strike, equals 12 points and 3 spells slots to get triple attack on /WAR.

Howdy folks! Just reupped after hearing about the upcoming buff to BLU and due to general interest in the whole Trust system. Been working on getting some spark gear, but I'm not sure where to go once I'm done with that. Also, I'd like to work on getting the WoE sword. Is it possible for BLU to efficiently solo any of those battlefields for coins, or should I work on gearing up my SMN as well? Delve and other group content is a no-go for now, at least until I can get myself reacquainted with the Sylph community.

WoE is very soloable by most jobs /Dnc, Blu could prolly solo it as any sub. I'd be preparred to spend a little gil on finishing the sword in a timely manner though. Coins are annoying with as many types as there are, and die/residue pouches are iffy at times.

While you get acquainted with things, be sure to start doing Coalition assignments in Adoulin, at least until you're able to take part in Wildskeeper Reives. Some of that gear along with the augments you can add via the WKR RoE KIs is a good step forward from sparks gear.

  14. #12594

Thanks! I had capped out the Scout's Coalition before I quit a while back, so no problem there. I noticed it's a lot cheaper to do WKR now than it had been previously, which is nice.

edit: Which battlefield would be best to solo as blu/dnc for coins? Is the coin payout pretty even between the lower ones?

Alternately you can use log in points... well not this time but the last few you could so might come back. Also the coins are selling fairly cheaply since it's soloable and well they have been a part of a lot of the log in campaigns

Fluxes 1-7 have a higher drop rate on coins (supposedly) compared to 8-15. If you need dice and residue though you're better off just doing 8-15 since coins drop fairly often there too. I've solo'd most of them on Blu some are harder or just more annoying to solo than others, I haven't tried 15 but it might be difficult. Easiest zones in general are probably 2, 5, 6, 7, and 9, 12, 13. The rest are doable but tend to be more annoying. Depending on your server there will probably be some people running around doing a few zones so I'd just follow them if so.

  17. #12597

Awesome, thanks for the info! Friend of mine is swimming in die/residue from the login campaign and said he'd help me out with those, so it's just the coins holding me back at this point.

Just dinged 99. How high do I want my blue magic skill to learn all my 99 spells? Once high enough would just like to learn them all and let the remainder skill up as I use it.

Looks like I'm 352/424 at the moment, slowly skilling by using phys blue magic on shit in abyssea w/ refresh atma (aka this is slow since the mobs are like high 80s, low 90s in level)

Wikia's info claims 29 points or less in skill compared to the cap at the level of the spell. Not sure if that exact number is right, but the general notion is.

Either way, I'd probably shoot for 400+ skill to be safe, but keep in mind that +skill counts when learning spells. If you have 352 skill naked, then you can gear up to the point that you should be fine. If that's already including gear/merits, then you'll want to keep going.

It's naked atm; 362 atm will take it to 280 to be safe, then drop 8 merits in it when I get back, pick up a mavi tathulum and get to it. I've read the AF gear has some JP midnight waits and I want to grind these out tonight, so I'll just worry about picking them up after learning some spells.

    Gracias
