I want the crystal sword for the name and the way it looks. Serves a decent purpose for an all-around nice solo sword though if you don't need the EVA from a shikargar.
I'm sure this has been mentioned somewhere, but it just occurred to me that you can use Unbridled Leaning spells even when your normal blue mage spells are on set-cooldown. It makes sense, but I hadn't realized it till now.
Is the Zaffre Cape going to be the new default backpiece for physical spells? Inventory savers are the best <3
Are their tiers to Blu Mage skill Attack, or does each point of skill just add +1 blu attack?
It's slightly, very slightly (1~3%) better than Vigilance +1 for every spell besides Heavy Strike, which it is 1% less effective for. It serves a purpose for utility and debuff accuracy though, too, so it's a nice multipurpose piece. Certainly isn't worth the multi millions that people want for it though.
As far as damage tiers, the most efficient new tier we can get is with those new STR+9 INT+9 Skill+8 hands, which will be our most potent hands for most spells, if not all.
@Koyangi: yeah, every point of skill = 1 attack.
Magus Jubbah +1, Mavi Tathlum, Mavi Tayt +2, Khepri Wristbands, Zaffre Cape, and Blood Greaves (skill+5 STR+4~6) seems to be the best damage configuration for most spells, putting you at 111 D from skill. Pity the feet need a maxed common augment and a high random pool augment to hit that tier/be worthwhile The only exceptions I've found thus far are Delta Thrust, for which you'd use Mirage Keffiyeh +2 and Bibiki Seashell to hit that same tier, and Benthic Typhoon (Zaffre is basically equivalent to Aife's here, acc aside).
Sans feet, what Prothescar said.
Is there a maximum number of possible shadows with occultation? Was wondering if the new gear gets you to a new tier.
It should let you get 10 shadows. You need full merits and nearly every available piece to pull it off though. I don't have an Antica Ring so I can't test it immediately, given that I obviously also lack Khepri Wristbands at this time.
Not entirely sure how I feel about 9 vs 10 shadows given how the latter impacts recast at present. Might create a toggle for that once I gather the appropriate gear.
What is the recipe for those hands?
I'll just dump the full set here since it's all useful.
1 x Gold thread
1 x Velvet Cloth
1 x malboro fiber
1 x taffeta cloth
1 x penelope's cloth
1 x Staghorn coral
1 x sealord leather
2 Velvet Cloth
2 Staghorn Coral
Taken from the crafting thread. Even if it's T1 the HQs will be a pain to get, and the NQs really aren't that interesting. If they're T0... won't uncurse them til 120 cap I guess.
Yes, can likely get to 10 shadows @ 500 skill. As for it being worth it... can't say it is aside form being able to say you have a 10 shadow blink.
@Nightfyre; didn't really account for that set simply because fuck synergy augments for blood greaves.
Yeah, sucks that it's such an awful set of augments to get. I'll be noting the best non-Blood Greaves builds in set descriptions along with changes for CA once I finish updating base sets. Melee, physical, and about 2/3 of the other sets are updated at this point, so I probably won't have that done until around this time next week.
Just a heads up that the new VW adds are squishy enough for physical spells to be practical for taking them out. CA efflux whirl just did ~3.5k for me on the frog adds.
EDIT: Sudden lunge also stunned the -ja/comet spamming parrot adds reasonably well.
Didn't see this posted yet (though admittedly I didn't look very hard), but I learned Quadrastrike from the new Tavnazian T1 VW.
Can learn from VW mobs, although I'm not sure if someone mentioned it earlier either. I had it happen just once.
So uh, which combination of runes makes up the set that drops Antica Ring?
So... speaking about cure. Did the new formula affect blue magic curing power too? I feel my curing number reduced a bit since update.
They do not.
