I think he might be referring to the first battle on the bridge. The second battle is much too hard to do in the 40s. My characters were almost 70 (except for Balthier at like 53) and I went through about 60 Phoenix downs. I'm still amazed I beat it lol.
No, I'm referring to the second battle though the first was a LOT easier then the second. Enkidu went down like in 5-10 minutes and gilgamesh hitting me was like nothing in the first fight, so it took a total of maybe 30 minutes..I didn't know where the hell Gilgamesh v2 was going to be so I looked up a quick walkthrough, found out, ran down there, pretty much had to sprint past all the skeletons and bats on the way there because they were owning me, I saved it, and then I buffed up knowing it was gonna be one hell of a fight. (my backup team is still all level 10-22 >.>)

I didn't even have that reverse item thing, I didn't know about it at the time, so I pretty much just zerged enkidu down reviving when needed (ghetto style, phoenix downs..hate raise & arise..take too much time to cast ;; ), I had Ashe doing most of the damage and tanking on Enkidu (think she had a deathbringer and genji shield at the time) and Vaan had a crystal shield + deathbringer, while Balthier had fomhault (sp? its that best gun thats from the chest right behind Antlion). balthier pretty much just spammed cures he rarely got a hit in, though I won't say he never got a hit in, same with vaan, only every now and then vaan hit gilg (lots more often then balthier, Vaan was mainly reviver and backup curer) and got agro from Gilg and died multiple times, getting him off of Ashe, which helped a lot.

Enkidu's instant death fang thing went off one hell of a lot around 30% and it took me around probably 15-25 minutes to finish him off..then with just Gilg left it wasn't too bad, i just beat him up curing/reviving/stealing at points when needed..hardest part about Gilg I would say at that level was damage and MP..i ran out of MP about near the end of the fight, enough to the point of where I just said screw it and just used a quickening but if he didn't have that genji armor to make me spam steal I probably wouldve been okay MP wise, he was crushing me down while i was still stealing >_>, i ended up winning the battle with pure luck; at 10% or maybe 5% i did a quickening and it took him to about 1 or 2% and after maybe a minute of me swearing really hard because it didnt die i finally decided to just take it off pause and just hit him and within 3 or 4 hits he died..was about an hour to an hour and a half fight total. i would expect if i had that reverse item + maybe a few levels higher it wouldve been a hell of a lot easier..lol.

    Edit: Paragraphs and Grammar haha

I did it at 58. The whole main party was 58, other party was probably still 26-27 lol. Level 2 Sleep was really screwing me up and almost caused me to wipe, but it was a really fun fight and had some great cutscenes to go with it. ^^

I went into the fight with 3 of every accessory which makes you immune to a particular effect.

Just equipped the Nishijian belts for the sleep immunity(only one that affected me for my level).

And I burst out laughing after reading "It seems to be an ordinary sword of legend" as if they are a common occurence in Ivalice or something. It also reminded me of this thread, lol.

Fought him at 74, lots of deaths, didnt need to swap any of my main 3 out though. Was a bitch until enkidu went down, overall best fight so far!

Reminded me of the bigger fights in FF11

Number 313 is the new "Clash on the Big Bridge" Theme for anyone who wants to download it or any other track from the soundtrack. Such an awesome song. Just beat Gilgamesh V.1 and V.2. Level 67 Vaan and Fran and level 53 Balthier. Was such an intense battle. ^^

I beat both at level 49, wasnt that hard lol. Only intense part was when the dog and gilgamesh were up on the 2nd fight. Lot of ppl died I guess 49 made it easier than other level tho. No disable or any status

Clash on the bridge music made me teary. It's probably in the top 5 of my favorite FF track, and hearing the remix was great. And I just realized why you fight gilgamesh on a bridge now, should have realized it sooner with ff5's music title.

Ironically, once I got out, an NM ghoul mage spawned and killed me (game over). That shit was harder than gilgamesh

That NM ghoul is indeed much harder than Gilgamesh.

Something like that. His AoE had the potential to one shot everyone not on bubble, and stuff were constantly repopping. Worst happened when I zoned and stepped on the berserk/confuse trap. My berserked character finished my leader before I could do anything, and killed himself after, right next to a save point.

I should have unequiped his weapon, but I didnt think about that on the moment.

have to get this off my chest haha. im pretty psyched :D

the fight was FUCKING EPIC OMG. everything was smooth up until he spammed disable, which everyone but balth got disabled. he esuna'd everyone while kiting until he got slept. then the last form was bloody as hell. once i got the steal i managed to get a quikening while he was 1shotting ppl. then it was zombie zerging and he was parrying like a mofo. hit, die, raise, hit, die, raise, hit, die, raise until i managed to get fran some mp for a 13 hit luminesence, which didnt kill. so more hit, die, raise's and he finally dies

everyone was 45, balth was 46

Very fun fight, great music and good cutscenes but i found Fafnir/Behemoth King to be more epic...since they both took way longer and hit for 2-4k every melee attack lol. Killed faffy at 59 with gimp ass gear, then BK at like 64 with the same gimp ass gear....both long fights but fairly entertaining, MP is a big issue when you cant even freakin melee him for any damage and Charge fails about a dozen times

His Lv.4? Disable is based on your party's levels...i read somewhere all the Lv.2-4 spells only effect levels divisible by that number, so fight Gilgamesh at like 45 instead of 44, you'll never get hit by it. Second Form was a bastard while Enkidu was alive, Crushing Fangs is probably the most annoying shit move i've ever encountered....tried fighting him w/o bubble belts but kept getting demolished by Enkidu before i could kill him, then slapped on some Bubble Belts and finally took him out, after he's down its more or less a hack-and-slash fight, even his final form move is single-target and easy to recover from.

I did it at 59, specifically to avoid his status attacks. 2nd form was pretty nuts until I got Enkidu down, after that he died pretty easily.

The music really brought back memories, lol

Just curious, but am I the only one who fought Gilg on a prime level and got hit with Prime Lv. Death? I would've rather had disable or sleep on then have to deal with his insta-death >_>

I thought level prime death was zalera's special move, like the -ja spell from most esper fights.

I did his first fight in the late 30s, wasn't going all that smooth, tried to steal in the beginning but just got potions, didn't know at the time you could steal from him again later in the same fight. I just beat his 2nd form and got the body/helm, but obviously I've missed the main item...I'm pretty much screwed in terms of ever getting the gloves now aren't I (I have 4 separate save files and all have been overwritten 20 times between fight 1 and 2)...
