This. And also that if Nimaiya knows all the swords' bankai, and later caught wind of a [theoretical] fake one Aizen concocted to show the gotei 13 as his captain's application, then Nimaiya sat on his ass and did nothing with that information for decades until it was too late.

But yeah, you're right Abandon, that's the reason that Ichigo became their last hope; but like Serra said, that was only after he revealed complete hypnosis to gotei. His captain's app. demonstration must have taken place years and years ago, but obviously sometime after he performed the visored experiment since he was still a lieutenant at that time still.

Keep in mind that Aizen, when doing is end boss evolution, had his sword fuse to his hand much like Ichigo's had (though for slightly different reasons). I wouldn't put it past Kubo to try and justify him then being able to use his shikai's abilities without his weapon at all now. Either way, might just be easier to accept the dude's hax and no bonds can truly hold him. Only reason they'd kept him until now was Ichigo weakened him, or maybe he did want captured for some obscure reason.

Edit: And I'm not sure why Nimaiya would know about the shikai/bankai of others when what he does is basically create blank slate swords that exposure to the user then tempers to their own energy. If he meets them, yeah, he can probably figure it out, but far as we know, he hasn't come down since he went up to the palace.

I think you may be right right. All Nimaiya actually states is that he knows the exact location of all the asauchi he's created, not that he knows all the abilities they imbue as well. Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions.

Looks like Kubo is eluding to him retaining at least some of his power ups.

Though he was probably always this strong (he subdued stark who had this problem) and just can't control it as well while bound, or chooses not too.

I think he essentially said just because he's sealed doesn't mean his energy is, so that's probably right. He can't control it.

That also means Shunsui can probably tolerate it.
