You'll find out over the course of the manga/anime that Aizen is full on Trollmaster Incarnate. Nobody knows how strong the guy actually is except for the fact that it took all of Ichigo's storyline progress, new found determination, and a little bit of Plotkai dumped into one earth splitting attack to just bring the guy into a state of being weak enough to imprison... let alone kill.

Didn't he steal the hogycue (that's not how you spell it I know) specifically because he reached the cap of power that a Shinagama can reach? So he was stronger than head captain? So far I haven't seen the hogycue make him any stronger.. just seems to unlock Arancars for him.

So yet again we have typical Kubo design: at least one quiet, bookish lady and at least one big, boastful nigga-type design. I'm starting to think he can only design 3 types of people, but he did, at least, make a fat chick this time, who looks like Cindy of the Magus Sisters in FFX.

So if the 5 members of Zero squad is more powerful than all of the Gotei 13 put together, then where does Yamamato fit in?

Is each member more powerul than Yamamato, or was Yamamato more powerful than each of them? He said he's still the leader because no one has ever surpassed him, but if every captain that get close to him or surpass him gets promoted to Squad 0, then that's kind of cheating.

If the members are not stronger than Yamamato, then Bach could easily kill each one of them. If they are stronger than Yamamato, then Yamamato was lying.

The few things I'm guessing will be revealed in the coming chapters:

1) Kurosaki Isshin was a former Squad Zero member who abandoned his role to be with his wife. He was also probably holding back vs Aizen for w/e reason.
2) Old man Yama was offered a position in Squad Zero but declined.
3) Squad Zero will offer Ichigo a training session to regain his Bankai
4) Aizen is stronger than the entire 13 Squads, minus Old Man Yama and Squad Zero.
5) Urahara was probably also offered a spot in Squad Zero.

I'd think that since the creation of Soul Society and/or the Gotei 13, more than 5-7 people would have been that exceptionally strong. 5 is a pretty precise number, why not more? Why not everyone that strong (like Yamamoto, unless he declined). Or hell, Kenpachi. That's why I get the feeling it's a more exclusive squad where they only recruit a new person once one of the previous members die/get kicked out. I'm guessing Isshin got kicked out about 110 years ago, which is why they had to recruit.

Now, why it took 90-something years for him and his wife/girlfriend to have kids I don't know. Maybe they spent the first 90-something years in hiding or fleeing and din't have time to produce children.

Or maybe he wasn't a member. Or maybe they recruit anyone strong enough, I don't know, but I'd like to believe the fact that there's only 5 bears greater significance than "OMG they be shit strong dude."

Knowing Kubo, though, that's sadly probably all there is to it...

Isshin seems the kind of guy to enjoy life i bet he bummed around for a few years (50+) before he met his wife (ichigo's mum) so are we presuming the woman is the ex commander of squad 10?

I thought it was stated Isshin left Soul Society only 20 years ago.
