I don't really understand. The afro dude said he was going to repair Ichigo's sword. But then took him down to the water and said "say goodbye to Zangetsu." Seems like he's getting forged an entirely new Zanpactu, rather than getting his fixed. Or maybe I'm just reading that wrong.

And who knows, it'll still be part of his soul. It's possible he'll still have the same bankai, just that his sword will go by another name. And since he has an ACTUAL sword now, he should also have a better sword and more abilities.

He had Zengetsu. His dad had Engetsu. I'm assuming his sister has Femgetsu.
Ichico's new sword will be Xengetsu, or alternatively, XXxxZenegstuxxXX

I'm pretty sure he means to say goodbye to Zangetsu in a metaphorical sense. Notice the asauchi came with them - he's probably going to toss him in the water or forge the spirit into the sword or whatever. It would be sort of stupid for Zangetsu to NOT be Zangetsu at this point... much like it would be stupid for Renji to have something else besides Zabimaru.

Remember though that they can't repair a bankai, so I doubt the name will be the same. It is, after all, a completely new sword. And each sword is unique.

Ichigo didn't have an Asauchi before. Therefor, his sword should take a new name, which is the name of the Asauchi that he's now wielding. Since the spirit possessing the sword is different, and is unique from the others and therefor have a unique name, it is highly likely that his sword will, in fact, NOT have the same name.Each Shinigami carries a Zanpakutō, and each Zanpakutō is unique: the swords are reflections of a Shinigami's power and soul, and sentient beings unto themselves. The Zanpakutō's name is the name of the living spirit which empowers the sword and lends its strength to the Shinigami who wields it. These beings can vary greatly in appearance, and have their own distinct personalities, which match their owner's.
The sword is likely to look the same and have similar abilities, although not identical. As I said before, it'll probably have more abilities, too, as he have an asauchi now, which he didn't before.
