If exposition bothers you, Shounen is probably not what you should be reading. They don't explain it in their heads because why would they need to explain their own ability to themselves? That's even more retarded than explaining to your enemy.

For half the population it may not be unreasonable. 100mg/day is the maximum recommended amount for children.

The whole translation is confusing.

Lethal dose is half of the lethal dose even though it's impossible to calculate how much it is? I guess space limitations made it hard to express but here's a quote from wiki:

Lethal doses are usually expressed as median lethal dose (LD50), the point where 50% of test subjects exposed would die, in the units of mg/kg body weight.

Okay, now that I read it in context of mg/kg of body mass it makes more sense. I was about to say. I studied LD pretty adamantly (it helps us calculate critical levels of therapeutic drugs) and I was about to throw the book at Kubo if he seriously was saying 200mg of Caffeine was lethal. Your average person drinks that in a single cup.
