Hello! My ls got a problem with 2 salvage. The Arrapago and Zhayolm Remnants ones.
This is the ally formation:
18 player. 2whm, 2 rdm, 5 blm, 2 mnk, 1 pld, 2 nin, 1 thf, 3 other DD.
We reach the 6th floor with about 40min left, but we are stuck at the Archaic Gears. In these salvage we gain very few cells, so we wipe easly.
Can you suggest me a strategy?
Is it true that the salvage is less difficult entering with less players?
stop bringing 18 ppl and split into 2 groups, drop some BLMs as well. lol
The only thing Fanatic's can't resist in Salvage are special NM chariot attacks and ramparts' Choke Chain. The only thing you'd have to worry about with gears is the knockback from Antigravity.Isn't Rail cannon is nulled by fanatic drink?

Does anyone in your group have alternate jobs? You might be able to split up into 3 groups, but 2 would work best if you are limited by job. Salvage does not treat large groups very well, especially Arrapago and Zhayolm.
Also, bards.
It's true salvage is less difficult when you enter with less player...for reason that are totally differentOriginally Posted by Shaina
I underlined the problem. Leading a group of 12 people usually make me want to /wrist. I dont even want to think about going with 18 again (did it once long time ago). Cell passing and people listening is one of the most important element tio success, and I can't see that working well with a large group. Anyway, here is a few key point to improve your run.
-Get a brd. Elegy is priceless on mega, and song/backup healer never hurt
- 2mnk,1pld, 2nin,1thf,3 other dd. You probably give enough tp to archaic mobs to WS every 3sec, making it impossible for the healer to keep up with hp. What you need is 3 (4 at most) strong DD and that's about it. Mnk, War, Sam, Drk are good and don't give much tp. Thief can melee normal gears, but shouldnt melee any NM. War can uses g.axe instead of ridill on upper floor.
-With 18, you will spend way too much time gearing yourself with important cell, giving you less time to actually do something. You probably end up giving magic cell to unimportant people before tank and stuff like that.
Arrapago:
1st floor (30-50min): Farm 1st floor completly. Hit every lamia (unless of course you are rotting magic/ja), hit as many quturb as you need to get weapon for your melee, rdm and 1 blm and farm hp for your tank pt. 6-7 hp cells if you can always help. Brd/whm/rdm should give magic first, followed by 1 blm or tank depending of the drop rate, 2nd tank and everyone else after (if you are lucky enough to see more)
2nd floor (5min top): Go directly to qiqirn NM if you have enough magic/Ja cell (pull both lamia otherwise), steal sj and give it to your 2nd mnk or war (whoever is tanking).
3rd floor (10min): Send a blm or rdm (preferably with hp cell) to the teleport as soon you zone up. Have him nuke+bio it, should take it down to 70% (qiqirn will ignore him normally and run straigth toward the center if the zone). Your melee can clear the first room on the way to teleport while the mage is running, and kill the running qiqirn as it pass by them.
4th floor (10min)- Killl a few gears for a 2nd sj or 3rd depending of your group, kill the qiqirn, pull the big soulflayer/bhoot (barice/ice carol for bhoot, stun perdition)
5th floor (10min): - Have someone run to portal while you clear the first room. The qiqirn should pop in the dead end after the door is opened. Kill it. Have people hug the wall in next room to avoid aggroing rampart/gears, and cstop before the next big room with chariot (if there is any link, just sleep+logout to save time). Pull chariot, kill it quickly (3melee at most on it) and zone up
6th floor (10min): Kill everything (take 10min top, 7min and less make qiqirn pop)
7 floor: Mega takes 10min to kills.
Zhayolm
1st floor (Dont spend more than 20): not everyone need ja, weapon (and sj in certain case)
2nd floor (15min): clear the earring/range room, then farm 2 of each pieces for tank. I actually prefer farming 4 of each pieces and skip the hand cells
3rd floor (10min): farm hp for something like 6 people, make sure your main healer have mp
4th floor (5min): kill the 4 mamools for additional hp, kill the correct rampart
5th floor (5min): flee+zone
6th floor (20min): Everyone run to a dead end, someone suicide pull chariot, kill gears one by one and chariot finally. That chariot is as hard as mega, so be careful (3 melee at most on it + blm)
7th floor (10min): It's easy, make sure the positioning is correct
This is a mega only run, if you try to fit the frog somewhere, you will have to figure it out by yourself for your group.

Didn't realize anyone took 18 people Salvage since it was released.
Salvage is like 10x easier with 6-9. Everyone gets pimped out (unless arrapago, then you get your DD/tanks pimped out while the rest of us just use our instrument and magic cell and be happy;![]()
Harder to gears yourself properly in zhayolm than Arrapago. If you clear most quturb/bone, most players will have back/head cells. 6th floor is going to gears everyone completly most of the time
Popped 6F QQTHs yesterday pretty easily with 9. Just save all temp items and zerg etc. No drops. Still 0/100 or so on both types of qiqirns.
That's karma. /whm > /rdm in salvageOriginally Posted by Kerberoz
The best suggestion is to switch 2 blm to brd and hunt 2 zones at a time.Originally Posted by Shaina
If you won't do that, it can still work well. TP spam can be countered by having fewer people on each gear, but don't let your others sit idle! You have 3 tanks and 4 DD, plus BLMs, you can fight 3 gear at a time, just don't fight them on top of each other.
Arrapago: spend the time on floor 1 to make your whole group useful. If one shot from a BLM can drop the floor 3 QQTH to 70%, don't bother clearing that floor. Sneak/Invis and try to one-shot the rat with a timed nuke from 5 BLM, RDM bio it, and leave the melees at the first room to mop up if it lives through the first barrage. Melees can farm a few cells while the BLMs are traveling, too. Once you get a few subjobs on floor 4, you should be able to send 2 tank/DD and 2 healers to the flayer/bhoot while the rest of the group finishes farming subs and kills QQTH, kill 2-3 gear at a time on floor 5 while somebody with Sneak unlocks the door. Put 2 melees and most of the BLMs on the chariot while the rest of the group kills QQA, gears, ramparts. Floor 6, split into 2 melee groups and a manaburn, 7 minutes shouldn't be a problem.
Zhayolm: Drops are guaranteed, Thundaga III is your friend. I'd be surprised if floor 6 + BCC take more than 30 minutes for your group, if you split into 2-3 melee groups for floor 6. Nothing on that floor will sleep, so BLMs will have to either assist melees or use gravity/bind. In any case, that leaves 70 minutes to equip your group, you should be able to clean floors 1-3 completely and at least get morrigan/ares hands 15 before moving to the top. Don't be afraid to split the group to cover more ground quickly.
Didn't kill all machinery, killed every NM on the way up, cleared 6F in 6:45. Shit works!

And, by golly, they don't drop a thing! :D
Yeah, same thing for us.

We used the BLM + Fanatic's Drink trick and cleared the floor in about 3-4 minutes using 4 BLMs. THF used PD and gathered all the gears up and BLMs went on an -aga fest.
No drops either, of course. It's great that someone found out how to do this so we can be disappointed when Morrigan Robe doesn't drop in 4 kills every run instead of 2. Oh well, we got our fourth Deimos's Cuirass on the way up.
O.o With 13 people including 4 BLMs you don't really need to -agafest the room to clear it in under 7min lol.Originally Posted by Xerlic
Thats why it only took 3.Originally Posted by Wizerd
But you wasted a perfectly good Fanatic's Drink which could be used for more fun things like having that BLM solo as much of AC as he can before he gets owned, or letting your MNK solo it before he gets owned or.. letting someone solo AC until it wears off and they get faceplanted.Originally Posted by Avinor

you dont need the drink on AC lol. U dont need 2hours either so might as well use them to pop 6F qiqirns which are the only hard thing to do in arrapago. This method for clearing 6F under 7 minutes is very interesting^^.

No idea how many nukes it took, but I do know the first blizzaga took off 10-12% off of 8 targets. I lagged like a motherfuck after the clusterfuck of -agas (Firaga especially lags my game) and next thing I know all of the gears were dead.
To reply to Wizerd, it was our first attempt at popping the 6f QQTHs and we really didn't want to dick around. We spent a lot of time on the first floor..close to 40 minutes just to make sure we got enough magics and as a result, we didn't have enough time for AC.
I know that a good policy of Salvage is "less is more" in most cases, but we (Avinor and I) don't like to let people run around useless because they can't cast magic because they aren't "needed".
Our primary focus of this run was to pop the QQTHs and not do Armored Chariot. We've done it plenty of times before and all have the useless 25s clogging our inventory, and figured that making sure we got the QQTHs which drop something actually useful was more important than getting more placebo 25s.
