    Except that's not how it works?

    The only thing that carries over from an off hand weapon are stats (STR, DEX, ACC etc). Critical hit rate and TP bonus are two things that don't.

    Just hit 75 last week and I still need to work on my WS setup but atm it stands like this:

    Weapons: Senj/Perdu
    Ammo: Bomb Core
    Head: Shura Kabuto
    Neck: Peacock Charm (Will get Breeze Gorget when stupid sharks stop being stingy)
    Ear: Bushinomimi/Brutal
    Body: Hauby (Will use Osode when I cap Katana Merits. 3/8 atm)
    Hands: Bandomusha Kote (Will switch to AF+1 when I get the Temenos Piece)
    Ring: 2x Flame
    Back: Cerb Mantle
    Waist: Warwolf
    Legs: Byakko's Haidate
    Feet: Rutter Sabatons

    Currently 5/5 STR and 4/4 Crit Hit Rate Merits. Having SAM at 75 made my NIN fun to level into at 75 as I already had all the gear and non job specific merits :D

    Can I see a link to the proof everyone is going off to say that weapon skills ignore % chance to crit on a subbed weapon? It just doesn't make sense to me as to why it would ignore that.

    A lot of people who use osode over haubergeon (with capped katana merits), do you all feel +5 str +5 dex is better then +10 att and +10 acc? Haubergeon looks like the better option to me, it means you can put more +str/+dex/+att in other slots where you would need +acc now.

    my WS gear is:

    Senji/Perdu
    O.Hat
    Breeze Gorget
    Brutal
    Minuet
    Haubergeon
    Ninja Tekko +1
    Rajas
    Sniper
    Amemet +1
    Potent (maybe I should use Warwolf)
    Byakko's
    Savage Gaiters (should really get myself a Rutters)

    I might have overstocked on +acc though, I hit mostly in the 600-700s (eyeballed) barely ever break 1k+ while doing merits. I'm 8/8 Katana merits but 0/5 on stat+ merits. I mostly eat sushi except for mire/colibri. I TP in either turban/af(haste), o.hat/haub(acc) or turban/haub(both).

    Osode is really powerful when your accuracy/attack is near capped (Read: Bard in Caedarva Mire eating Meat). I had one for a short while, I only really used it when WSing in the Mire or on Puks, though. My Jin setup is somewhat lacking in ACC, so I stuck with a Haub for Mamool and the like.

    They are right (forgot to specify S/F as was commonly accepted) but it's a tossup last time someone parsed F/S or S/F. AFAIK Its not like the offhand cannot be one of the hits that crit only place it would make a difference is if the last hit is mainhand (more than likely) or offhand. Either way we are talking about a difference on the last hit of a 3 hit ws that has either +3% chance on that one hit or +1 base damage for multiplying.

    The info I remember reading is somewhere on the KI Nin forum pages...someone wrote a quick custom parser (in perl I think?) to record critical % chance for each hand. It was pretty clear from the data collected that the crit bonus only applied to the wielding hand, but that was for normal swings. From what I remember, the data should be something like 2 years old.

    I don't think anyone has proved/disproved crit bonus on offhand for WS. What a pain in the ass that would be w/ Jin.

    edit: this is why destroyers are so pwn on monk, and why people cry about it. Because it's the only crit bonus weapon that applies to both hands, which is also why monks tend to parse around 15-16% crit rate.
