    Job Profiles - Bard

    http://www.cactusleaftl.com/ffxipics...bs/BRD/BRD.jpg

Bards are musical experts, who heal their comrades with cheerful songs, inspire their allies with valiant performances, and ensnare their enemies in forbidden melodies.

    http://www.cactusleaftl.com/ffxipics...BRDprofile.jpg

    ???????? – Choral Slippers
Designed for use in the army’s Choral Unit, these shoes have soft, flexible outsoles that are pleasant to walk in.

    ????????? – Choral Roundlet
This hat has a circular top and completely drapes over the head. Due to its unique design, it is often referred to as the “Mushroom Hat.”

    ????????? – Choral Cannions
This unique leg-wear has a checkered pattern around the thighs. The cuffs are loose, and flowing skirt-like cloth hangs from the hips, giving these cannions an elegant look.

    ????????? – Choral Justaucorps
This beautiful coat is made from thick cloth and leather. From the hips, to the loose cuffs, to the puffed shoulders decorated with stripes, this piece of clothing is designed with prominence and grace in mind.

    ?????? – Choral Cuffs
These gloves are made of thin silk to allow a Bard to manipulate an instrument flawlessly. They have large cuffs attached to them to go with the Justaucorps.

    ???????????? – A Queen’s Forbidden Love

    http://www.cactusleaftl.com/ffxipics.../BRDgarden.jpg

Everyone has someone for who they yearn. Feelings of joy and sorrow are strong, and can overcome our reason. Not only that, but the emotional wounds we suffer run deep.

This story begins with a young man and his broken heart, and soon shifts to a past romance between a traveling Bard and a Sand’Orian Queen. The Bard and Queen are bound by a ring, which lies at the center of this mystery that has been forgotten these many years. However, when washed in the Perennial Snow of Xarcabard, the engraving, and the truth, shall become clear…

A Bard at its core evokes feelings through song. They shape feelings into words, and give them form and life. So take your instrument in hand, and spin a melody. Your emotion is sure to touch the hearts of many.

    ---

    ???????? – Lewenhart

    http://www.cactusleaftl.com/ffxipics...Dlewenhart.jpg

We sing our praises for heroes, we croon elegies for lost love, we cry requiems for the departed. We travel from town to town telling stories of high adventure. We are the Bards of Vana’diel. But among us, there is one whose status is legendary: Lewenhart. He is a star among troubadours, and travels far and wide leaving his poetry behind him. However, this man still denies his worthiness of the title saying, “It is simply the duty of all Bards to give emotion form and convey it to the people.”

    ---

    ?? – Abilities

    http://www.cactusleaftl.com/ffxipics...Dsoulvoice.jpg

    ?????? – Soul Voice
Bards can use this secret technique to unleash their full emotion into song, increasing their effect. Their melodies can then unlock the dormant power within allies and friends, as well as cause serious harm to enemies.

    ??? – Wind Instruments
The timbre produced by Wind Instruments is especially good for harming enemies. Many Bards prefer to use Wind Instruments when performing Lullabies and Elegies.

    ??? – String Instruments
The melodies from plucked strings are able to reach even the ears of distant allies. String Instruments are good for soothing the bodies and minds of allies with a Paeon or Ballad.

    ---

    ?? – Weapons and Armor

    http://www.cactusleaftl.com/ffxipics...RDgemshorn.jpg
    ?????? – Gemshorn
This horn is used for keeping and raising sheep. Originally, these instruments were made from actual horns, but because of the high cost they are now more commonly made from femurs and beetle jaws. The soothing melodies Gemshorns produce help to tame sheep, especially males.
    ***

    http://www.cactusleaftl.com/ffxipics...melinflute.jpg
    ????????? – Hamelin Flute
There is a fearsome hidden power within this flute that was once used in the destruction of a Hume city. Whoever plays upon it is compelled into a lively dance, and all who hear its song are entranced by its sound.

(This sounds like one of those descriptions referring to real life, i.e. The Pied Piper, and has no corresponding event in the game’s history. If you find one, please post it.)
    ***

    http://www.cactusleaftl.com/ffxipics...shairgages.jpg
    ??????? – Sha’ir Gages
These are the traditional gloves worn by Sha’ir, or Bards, of the Near East. The gems embedded in the hands serve not just as decorations, but lend magical power to the user while they are performing. To accommodate the fine movements needed when playing an instrument, the gloves have individual fingers.
    ***

    http://www.cactusleaftl.com/ffxipics...nstrelcoat.jpg
    ????????? – Minstrel’s Coat
When a Sahagin White Mage saved the life of a Mithran Bard caught in a shipwreck, the grateful traveler left this coat behind as a keepsake. They say the notes she strummed on the harp were as soft as ripples on the surface of water, and soothed the hearts of the Sahagin.

Choral unit in the army? What country? I don't remember it being mentioned.

I guess it's more appropriate to say an army, but in the Second Battle of Konschtat, The Republic of Bastok featured a number of Bards in their main unit.

"Sya'ir" in my language means "poet" too. I guess it's one of the foreign word taken to our language

It means the same in Farsi as well, as a loan word. Using the same alphabet, the spelling wasn't changed. What language were you referencing?

    Indonesia

Not so surprising considering the majority people in my country has been exposed to middle east religion/culture (esp. Islam) in 13th-15th century.

I'm not the majority one btw

No, if it is the battle I am thinking of, it is the world's first recorded Ranger Burn party.

It's the battle you're thinking of Sept, and it was way before the nerf. Using their new firearms the Bastokans forced San d'Oria into a strategic retreat. coughcough

Actually, to start off the battle, Bastok's crossbowmen and musketeers Ranger burned Sand'Oria's front line of Goblin mercenaries. In retaliation, Sand'Oria's longbowmen then Ranger burned Bastok's ranged unit. No joke 8)
There's like a 6-page detailed account of the battle with pictures for each maneuver executed.

I'm hoping we eventually get pictures of this, because it sounds pretty damn awesome! (Of course I'm ex-army Intel, so military stuff is probably cooler to me than to most...)
