    Job Profiles - Ranger

    http://www.cactusleaftl.com/ffxipics...bs/RNG/RNG.jpg

These expert hunters have superb tracking abilities and unparalleled skill with projectile weaponry.

    ????????? – Hunter’s Bracers
Leather-made gloves. The fingers on the right hand are solid and durable so as to eliminate pain when pulling back on a bowstring. The fingers on the left hand are exposed to allow for the extra sensitive finger movements needed to aim an arrow.

    ??????? – Hunter’s Beret
This hat has a round top that droops over to one side. It is crafted from green cotton, and is decorated with several leaves on top, giving it a slight camouflage effect.

    ????????? – Hunter’s Braccae
These shorts are designed to be easy to move in, and also have protective knee-pads installed.

    ????????? – Hunter’s Jerkin
This light coat is crafted from strong pieces of animal hide. Its unique, asymmetrical design allows it to fully support the user in the use of a bow and arrow or firearms.
    http://www.cactusleaftl.com/ffxipics...NGjerkin01.jpg
You can see the reinforcements on the left arm for archery.

    http://www.cactusleaftl.com/ffxipics...NGjerkin02.jpg
I am not sure what the exposed area on the chest and matched reinforcement on the back are for. When using guns, everyone holds them on the opposite side of their body.

    ???????? – Hunter’s Socks
Made from leather, these special socks protect the ankles and shins. The soles are stacked several times with layers or leather and cloth, so while hunting, a Ranger’s footsteps cannot be heard.

    ?????????????????????
Mithran Law ~Twinstone Earrings and the Sin Hunters~

    http://www.cactusleaftl.com/ffxipics.../RNGmithra.jpg

The Sin Hunters come from the Mithra homeland, far to the South. They are searching for the daughter of the “Fire Tribe” chieftainness, who had committed the unforgivable sin of killing her own kind in the Great War twenty years prior. There are no records of her parents, as she was made an orphan by the war and was raised by the TaruTaru. The questions begin once Semih Lafihna receives a special twinstone earring from the Chieftainness, Perih Vashai… …

Twinstones are not just stones that match each other perfectly, but they also resemble no other stones in the world. This mysterious characteristic they share leads them to be used in “Twinstone Earrings,” which symbolize a special bond, like parent and child. Semih Lafihna remembers receiving a twinstone earring at a very young age… …

Now she must discover a secret that has been kept hidden since her birth.

    ---

    ????????? – Perih Vashai

    http://www.cactusleaftl.com/ffxipics...erihvashai.jpg

Perih Vashai is a famous archer, and the Mithra Chieftainness, who resides in Windurst. During the Great War, she used the “Bow of Light” to rescue her comrades from Castle Oztroja, and lost her eyesight as a result. The bow was crafted using a piece of the Magicite brought back from the Northlands thirty years ago by Yow Rabntah. It thus contained horrific power, yet horrific evil at the same time. Her loss of eyesight has not dulled her senses, and by entrusting herself to nature, she is extremely sharp and aware of all her surroundings.

To those who wish to walk the path of a Ranger, she will bestow knowledge. To those who continue to walk that path, she will lend conviction and instruction. As she advances in age, she has chosen to pass the sacred “Azure Bow” onto Semih Lafihna, but she appears reluctant to accept.

    ?? – Abilities

    ?????? – Eagle Eye Shot
This secret technique allows a Ranger to target an enemy’s vital points and blast through them with one powerful shot. This ability can be used in conjunction with Archery or Marksmanship weaponry.

    ????? – Scavenge
By searching one’s surroundings, a Ranger can find useful items to use on their adventures. Parts found can be used to make a variety of things, like fletchings or arrows.

    http://www.cactusleaftl.com/ffxipics...RNGbarrage.jpg
    ???? – Barrage
This ability allows one to fire multiple projectiles at once, doing massive damage to the enemy. Due to the power of this attack, Rangers will often find themselves targeted by the victim after striking them with it.

    ??? – Shadowbind
A Ranger has the ability to bind the enemy’s shadow to the ground using a ranged attack. Since the effect is rather weak, it can be broken if the enemy receives any sort of attacks or sudden impacts.

    ---

    ?? – Weapons and Armor

    http://www.cactusleaftl.com/ffxipics.../RNGsarnga.jpg
    ???? – Sarnga
The Mithra of the Southern lands made this tightly drawn bow as an imitation of the bow of their Sun God, the “Optical Bow.” Those who pull back on its string have their senses intensified and can fire their arrow without fear of missing their target.
    ***

    http://www.cactusleaftl.com/ffxipics...NGhellfire.jpg
    ?????? – Hellfire
“Hellfire” (????) is the name given to this musket. It takes considerable time to fire, but compensates for that with its immense power. It takes great skill in a number of crafts to construct this gun, which is composed of a darksteel barrel and walnut stock, with gold and brass inlays.
    ***

    http://www.cactusleaftl.com/ffxipics...riderboots.jpg
    ????????? – Strider Boots
These magical boots are given the name Strider because they naturally increase the length of your steps. They are greatly beneficial for travelers and adventurers with their incredibly light weight and soft, comfortable soles.
    ***

    http://www.cactusleaftl.com/ffxipics...Gwaraketon.jpg
    ??????? – War Aketon
Velvet and cotton are quilted together to make this piece of armor. At first glance, it appears to be simply formal wear, but it is actually utilized in battle, and when struck, an apparatus installed within the aketon combusts, damaging the enemy.

    Re: Job Profiles - Ranger

    Very nice, as usual...
lol rangers can break out the knee pads..

As for the part about Perih Vashai, she passes her sacred " " (<- is there something here? cos its missing) to Semih Lahfina.

to the point about the 'exposed' area on the chest... I'm pretty sure that is the leather reinforcement to the jerkin. It just looks kinda exposed (its more visible in the Af2 version)
The left arm also has this leather guard like thing on the elbow which the right arm doesnt have and this is most likely a representation of an arm-guard for when arrows are fired.

I've taken up archery before so I can probably shed some light on the equipment purposes. most people have to wear an arm guard to prevent the fletching or the bow string from being caught or obstructed/interrupted by the clothing. This is also to prevent abrasion or w/e if you're not wearing sleeves. Depending on how far back you have to draw your bow, the left part of your chest will also come very close (almost parallel) to the initial path of the arrow, so the chest is another part of the body where the guard will come in handy to prevent clothing from affecting the bowstring.

As for no guard for the right side where guns are fired.. well. I've done rifle firing before too so I might be able to explain that. Usually for rifle/guns, a harness of sorts can be worn and this might be represented by the belt-looking design on the jerkin. The optimum way to minimize recoil from the weapon is to tuck the butt (end) of the rifle into the hollow of your chest (which is also kinda where that suspender-like belt looking thing runs on the right side of the chest. This is also done to align the eye with the sight-targeting aperture/scope.The Galka and Elv M firing postures for guns is more suitable practice for handguns/pistols.

I forgot to add that. There is some special "Bow of the Sky" or something that Perih Vashai has as chieftainness that they talk about in RNG AF quests. I never did them so I don't have what they officially call it. I tried asking in IRC but didn't get an answer and then forgot to follow up.

Yeah lolSarnga. And it is officially the "Bow of Light". It's what blinded Perih Vashai, which is why I'm so excited to see pre-blinded Perih Vashai in the WotG trailer.

There's something different from the "Bow of Light." Its some special bow that the chieftainness wants to pass on to Semih. "Bow of Light" is ???, but this is called, ????. Supposedly, they talk about it during RNG AF3.

Well, modern day recurve (Olympic-style) archers use something similar to either protect themselves or to keep looser-fitting clothing out of the way (see http://margo.student.utwente.nl/sagi/gallery/sme/ for an example). Trust me, having a bow-string graze a nipple on the way past is not comfortable It gets worse if you have piercings as well...
