I've literally almost fished up everything, and lets of 'em. Gugs, liks, 2/4 of the dragon fish (trying to go 4/4 and get one of each in my bazaar but the vunk dragon is seriously pissing me off, 8 line snaps now >_>
About 12 matsya, hundreds of cherax, hundreds of crocs, even more pelezoas, and so on. Annnnd.... nothing... >_>;
Did you turn in your guild test fish to get past the 97.3 cap?
I think I went 99.7>100 on a ryugu titan.
edit: On character with lu and no serpent rumors I have not hooked hakuryu while catching 25 black sole.
edit2: i have decided minnows are shit bait for bcd. way too many bluetail. I am pretty sure waiting for boat to get sinking minnows actually saves time because you don't have to cancel all the damn bluetail.
Yea, <3 sinking minnows. So much more profitable over time. Just buy them in bulk, like 20 or 30, and you make tons.
Need fishing skill 90 with Lu Shang for Titanictus to have stagnant HP.
To be clear
88: Autoregen
89: Autoregen
90: Stagnant
91: Stagnant
On a related note, ryugu titans still auto-regen at 90. I couldn't keep testing them up to 92 cause i ran out of meatballs.
Facts verified by multiple fish:
Fishing skill 13 and above fish cap = Auto-depletion
Fishing skill -24 to 12 = Stagnant
Fishing skill -25 and below fish cap = Auto-regen
Lu Shangs has no hidden skill, it auto deplete/regens at the same levels as Halcyon and other cheap rods
Ebisu has hidden skill, it auto depletes/regens at different levels from all other rods
Target: Titanictus
With Lu Shangs:
autoregen at 89 (fish is 25 levels higher)
stagnant at 90 (fish is 24 levels higher)
Therefore, Titanictus skill cap is 114
Therefore, Last level Titanictus will be stagnant is 126 skill
Therefore, To autodeplete Titanictus you will need to be at 127 skill
With Ebisu:
stagnant at 80 (Skill is 12 levels above fish)
autodeplete at 81 (Skill is 13 levels above fish)
Therefore: First level to autodeplete TItanictus is 127, Ebisu rod first establishes autodepletion at level 81. 127 - 81 = 46.
Proposal: Ebisu fishing rod has a hidden attribute of +46 fishing skill.
Check my maths, I'm no good at it. If the math is right we can hopefully find another level 80 ebisu owner at some point to verify the original Titanictus test. And hopefully repeat the test with a fish in the 120's or 130's to make the levels easier.
PS im not taking credit for all this, just compiling the testing from various contributors
Looks a lot to me like our fish stamina system works in tiers similar to HQ rates of crafting.
I propose that maybe Ebisu doesn't have +46 skill, but instead has a straight up +1 tier, 46 seems like a pretty arbitrary number.
However how would you test the difference between the two? This is starting to look like it may call for me to try and create a program to monitor fish hp values.
Are we seeing hp decline rates to be tiered or some kind of linearish change with each +1 skill?
Few points to discuss
1.) I agree with you it does appear to be a very meaningless number. I think it's also obvious that there's probably sub tiers with the speed of regen or depletion. Maybe at the time that number was picked so we couldnt break the auto-regen of Lik and Gugs, who knows. We know that when you first hit auto-deplete range it's a very very very very slow auto-depletion compared to a level 100 fisherman hooking a moat carp. Eyeballing these tiers would be pretty impossible and error filled.
2.) I'd also like to find another 80 skill Ebisu owner and have them verify the Titanictus test.
3.) I'd like to figure out another fish in the 115-125 range where we can repeat this test. Fish that come to mind may be some of the other old legendaries.
4.) Cave Cherax - Can anyone test these with Ebisu no matter what skill you're at. Data posted a couple years ago said level 84 Ebisu was stagnant, 85 was auto deplete. But I swear when I went out a few weeks ago to fish some they were regening on me...
I don't think it would be that hard to test autoregen/autodeplete tiers. When I was testing the autoregen on titanictus, it was a very very obvious jump in the 70s from the fast autoregen to the slower autoregen. I think it stayed that way all the way to 90. It could also quite easily be fraps'd, and you could make as many samples as you want to verify. Though I am already at 88 now of course and couldn't do it again.....
I'm thinking of fishing Ryugu Titans in Den of Rancor so I don't have to deal with the boat. Thoughts? Anyone done it?
What's the best bait?
I've never pulled on up in the den. Ffxiah.com comments say "Wiki says this can be caught in Den of Rancor. Ive had no luck in about an hour. has anyone tried this?" I think I've generally hooked them with meatballs? I've never tried to target them because I hate fighting them so much
Meh, I guess I'll just stick to the boat then. Going for a Mercurial Sword :/
Why would you do that instead of just buying it with all the gil your coffer is undoubtedly exploding with.
I actually haven't caught a single Ryugu on the ferry. Always go to Den of Rancor when I've been trying the Mercurial Lottery. The pool surrounded by slimes (where that one Tonberry NM can pop) is where I go. I don't know if they can be fished up in other pools, like the Zebra Eel pool surrounded by scorpions.
Any idea which map, location, and what bait have you found to be best?
