    Vana'diel art reconstruction

Some folks probably know about how ancient artworks are sometimes painstakingly restored from a damaged, age-worn state into an image of their original glory.

    Cue http://projectgraviton.blogspot.com/.

    Original in-game:

    Looks like this.

"Reconstructed version" (see the blog for how)

    Looks like this.

Seeing as one of the big draws for Elmer's history work has been some of the "ancient artwork" that went with it, I thought this would be relevant to the general interest. He's taking votes on which piece to work on next.

Very nice. I'd love to see more.

If I may be a critic, the newer version gives his chest a little too much color.

Interestingly done...I re-watched the Sacrarium CS's (was bored going for the xp paper), and noted several pieces of artwork (this among them) shown in the background against the wall...looking forward to seeing others '-'

One question though...the link to the FFXI Zone Tool doesn't want to work for me...does anyone have another mirror for it? Been wondering where I could find an app to look at zones a la modelviewer.

It looks nice to be sure, but if you were aiming for restoration I think using a restricted color pallet would have worked better.

I'm not a big fan of your one sorry Too much gradient is used, the style FF uses to draw their pictures is an old Japanese style from the Edo period, everything was flat shaded.

Pass that down to the artist, then. The idea isn't "improvement", but "restoration". If the images can be turned into something that reflects the "original", all the better.

Oh I thought you were the artist.
