Rolling Stones top 20 songs of 2007

    http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/ ... gs_of_2007

    (stolen from Whisp on yarrthepirate.com.)

    1 "Roc Boys"
    Jay-Z

2 "A Few Words in Defense of Our Country"
    Randy Newman

    3 "Umbrella"
    Rihanna

    4 "D.A.N.C.E."
    Justice

    5 "Four Winds"
    Bright Eyes

6 "Dough Is What I Got"
    Lil Wayne

    7 "Rehab"
    Amy Winehouse

    8 "Long Walk Home"
    Bruce Springsteen

    9 "Boyz"
    M.I.A.

    10 "Int'l Player's Anthem"
    UGK

If you can appreciate good rap lyrics, "Dough Is What I Got" by Lil Wayne should have been number 1, not 6. "Roc Boys" is a good song though. The rest I don't even recognize by title.

Jesus Christ I don't know anyone can listen to this crack whore. Her music sucks, her voice is horrible, and she is uglier than all sin. Seriously this bitch is a train wreck worse than Brittany even on her best day.

Every song on the top 20 is garbage, going through it now and the first song that is actually decent isn't til #47 with the Foo Fighters lol.
Just read through 1-100 like 95% of the list is complete trash, who the fuck writes this shit, RS's writers should be shot.

I read it and thought it was an awful selection. There were maybe 3 songs in there that I woul even put onto that list if that listed there. They also only seemed ot pick music from 1-2 genres so I wont give this too much credit.

international players anthem is a great song. rest of that top 10 is pretty doodoo. half the 100 list reads like a TRL countdown.

it has nothing to do with being anti-mainstream, and everything to do with a song about lip gloss being on a top 100 list. are you kidding me? your lip gloss is cool? your lip gloss is poppin? well thats fucking great! but just because you can put it to a beat does not mean you are the god damn 56th best song to come out in the last year.

i dont mind most pop music, i think justin timberlake is one bad mofo. but really, read through the list. how is a song like Stronger, which i feel was innovative and catchy and worthy of its pop praise going to be number 11 and a song like I Get Money be number 14? it has MAYBE two verses, both of which im sure are garbage. all i can picture are the words "i get money" and "i run new york" being said over and over again. sure its a great club song just like Crank Dat, but damn throw it somewhere near the back of the list not in the top 20.

Yeah, I don't understand how people can listen to that trash and actually feel musically satisfied from it.
The mainstream even as short as 10 years ago was pretty good compared to what its changed into nowadays.

I'm only agreeing with you because you have Lupe in your sig and he's been my avatar for a while. Can't wait to get The Cool.

But, "Roc Boys" And "Dough Is What I got" deserve to be top 10's.

Wait wait wait...didnt you say you listen and like rap music in another thread? Being rebel is what define 95% of rap artist out there.

Irony aside, the pop music listed in that top 20 just blows. People listen and buy those albums because they don't know better, not because they are good. Almost everyone turn their back to pop forever once they start listening other genre and less known band.

And the whole pop culture is just ridiculous. There is nothing wrong about making fun of corporation who can paint a shit gold and manage to trick people into buying it.

I don't think the list is terrible, obviously my own list would be different but I just hope the people who did make that list didn't feel pressure to include certain songs and actually think thats the best list.

On the subject of the 2 hip hop songs, I think roc boys is a fair bit worse, it just doesn't stick out as great and I probably wouldn't be able to pick that song out as the best in an album.

That list makes me very sad
Glad "Bleed it out" is on there, but far up
Surprised 'Drop kick Murphys' was even on there
Lol @ "Rock star" being #100, wish my local radio knew that...
Did not remember really any other band on there

Re: Rolling Stones top 20 songs of 2007

There are quite a few songs I really like on that list.

Four Winds, You Got Yr Cherry Bomb, Silver Lining, Backed Out On The..., Guitar, Halloween Head, Impossible Germany, You! Me! Dancing!, Phantom Limb, Our Life is not a Movie or Maybe, Dashboard, Threshold Apprehension, Freak Out...

I haven't heard the majority of them. Personally, I would have swapped a couple of those songs with others from the same album. There's some good stuff on that list for sure, though.
