    Re: New RMT conspiracy

There were 99% less gilsellers before FFXI came out on PC. Had it remained simply a console MMORPG, third party cheating, hacking, stolen accounts and RMT operations would diminish by 99.99%.

It's actually counter productive to mod a PS2 to be able to run executables because the equipment would be pretty costly and would require extensive knowledge, so it simply wouldn't be worth it to RMT.

That's a pretty ignorant statement. I know for a fact people RMTed when I started to play, as well as all the super obvious JP ps2 hacks. But forget all that it's those crazy NA and their PCs that made the game what it is now.

Just wanted to toss in that programatically, there is very little difference. They could just as easily make a 'record' of all person-to-person gil transactions over x threshold, as they could a 'central' gil transfer spot.
To us, it's different, but as far as tracking it, it really isn't.
I would almost expect there to be some form of records of these transactions now. Its a rather simple 4/5 col table to record: PID1 PID2 Amt Timestamp and maybe serverID. With say a transaction history of 7 days. Though if this was modeled after a full economy then it would have these transaction histories out for years. I'm somewhat sure there is some report that is generated for someone to read that states averages and trends for the economy in the game; if not they are keeping themselves from a usefull datapoint for future planning.

    PS2 hacks? Elaborate.

And RMT largely didn't affect the economy in FFXI until the Xmas after it was released in the US. Before that time, Peacock Charms were still 1m, Sniper Rings were 100k,Astral Rings were 30k,etc. Back then, getting rank 10 in a nation allowed you to buy a lot of rare gear....now ranking up to 10 can buy you some food and some sneak oils and a stack or two of echo drops.

    Re: New RMT conspiracy

Im confused about the rmt on Alexander server.
    Twice now this has happened.
One a while ago when a friend was helping me in Beauadeux (sp?) for a Mission, and another 2 days ago when I was helping a friend on a mission.
RMT all in starter gear would zone in, one at a time, then go into /heal mode then vanish, 2mins later they would appear in Jeuno or just simply not go anywhere.
Why even bother to go to Beaud?

*wave Toumingod and Zpighin* I remember killing them in Lower Delkfutts by claiming all the goblins they were leveling on, letting them try to pull three or four, then accidentally dcing, completely randomly mind you.

By the time I got back in to kill the goblins, there were bodies everywhere... I felt so bad.

Not new I'd assume, but the ToAU pack of RMT on siren seem to be sending gil by selling single ginger cookies and buying for the amount desired to send.

A 2.7 Mil Gil cookie must be pretty damned special. Sker, Gaber, Skype, Flyder, Singer and Alicew are all the same little node of RMT that usually float in and out of the assault office.

Yes I noticed this as well on Midgar. Was in Davoi the other day and saw two tarus doing the same cycle, Pvhepey and Boosomething? I called a GM and stood on the zone line at Davoi and he appeared right next to me. Funniest thing was the rmt were zoning and POSing right in front of him haha. Eventually he said it could take up to two weeks to get them banned, probably not much difference as the rmt wouldn't take long to probably get new characters and start all over again.

awesome how it only takes 30 seconds for calling someone a bitch to get jailed, but it takes 2 weeks to get jailed for pos/speed hacking.

Maybe SE takes the long-term approach with obvious RMT? Namely, monitor the account, slate it for purging on a future date, and see which accounts it trades with? That's the only way they'd be able to actually "nab" the RMT banks.

I'd also be curious if this is the approach they're taking why they couldn't extend it to the next logical step, which is to nab gilbuyers.

    Maybe that's what I thought.

Am online now and their names haven't come up on /sea when I've been randomly checking. Guess they got banned already, would've been only five or six days since I originally placed the call.

    Re: New RMT conspiracy

Sometimes the RMT purposely drop off the radar as well after mass-bans too, guess they know the heat is on ~.~

Ive seen it happen in Kuftal where a group 'dissapears' for a week or so only to pop back up and continue as if nothing happened. (Granted maybe a loss of 1 or 2 of their characters.)
