Re: Buying my first weapon, would like input from gun owners

Well, I'm satisfied with my purchase. The weapon feels pretty nice in my hand, gonna be a bit before I can make time to get to the range though.

Pops bought a Kimber model 1911 Target II today as well

    That .45 is niiiiice

I used to shoot when I was a teenager, but haven't shot a bow in 10+ years. My sister is pretty into it though:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ingbackbow.jpg

Ruger is a good gun. You should be very happy with your purchase. There is a guy I know up here that is a Ruger NUT. Like is trying to collect every model of Ruger ever made. Think he is pushing 200+ guns atm. I love my little Ruger .22 gopher killer.

Now all you need is some ear plugs and safety glasses and you can hit the range. Have fun.

Enjoy it! I got my first gun about 2 years ago, it was a gift from my dad and my brothers since I always liked going to the range and shooting with them, and for protection obviously, since I knew how to use one.

I don't know much about Rugers personally but from what I've heard, they're nice guns.

Strangely enough, I am not surprised.

I grew up around fire arms of all types, lucky bastard who has the M82, I got to hold one once, and it was heavy as fuck. Gun shop in Mass. of all places had five, he pre sold every one of them in a week. I've seen a DE but never have fired one, .357 long barrel revolver is probably the largest pistol I've shot, but my favorite rifle was the M4A1. This was not a knock off, my parents are police offices and they had some on loan from the local base for counter terrorism and urban combat training. Still were unlocked for full Auto, so I was able to burn through about 150 rounds, in a couple of minutes. I was able to hit targets up to 75 yards center mass with full auto bursts, the accuracy and balance of that gun was amazing. I have been thinking about picking up a nice pistol though, I miss shooting the 1911 .45, its such a well made gun. I may poke around a couple shows and stores around here if they have any decent ones and piss away some tax refund money.

Strangely enough Remy, my buddies and I used to keep the d20s around to keep tabs on damage points playing Magic :D

I can honestly say I never rolled a single D&D character. A friend tried to explain it to me once, but I just didn't get it :/

M4A1's are garbage in real life situations. had to use one my first tour through the desert...hated that thing. the MK416 is a HUGE improvement, in both accuracy and durability. i can only recall mine jamming a couple times and that was in some pretty extreme situations.

Wow I'm surprised, I've only heard good things about it until now. Glad you made it out though, I've also heard a lot about the M8, the new multi platform/modular rifle , have you been able to get your hands on one of those?
