    West Champion: San Diego
    Wildcard: New York

    NL Champion: New York

    Re: 2008 MLB season

Detroit is this years trendy pick and I get a laugh out of it. Steve Phillips just brought his braindead logic into BBT and predicted them to win it all. His gripe against the Yanks last year when he said Seattle would win the WC? no pitching/all offense. Sound similar!? the Tigers have it even worse, at least the Yanks had Mo to close games, the Tigers? Todd motherfucking Jones!

    AL East: Yanks
Central: Indians (pitching is a wonderful thing, Hafner won't suck and Seizemore is gonna have a huge year)
West: Mariners (Escobar's season is done, Lackey is gone for the month, their strength became a weakness)
    WC: Boston

    NL East: Mets
    Central: Cubs
West: DBacks (Webb and Haren is a fierce combo)
    WC: Braves

Not gonna do playoff predictions as that's crapshoot. Can't wait for tomorrow, this bullshit rain better stay away

    Edit: Worst national anthem.ever.

I'd love to pick the Phillies to win the NL East and beyond but it's such a tough division with two great teams to compete against. It's probably going to be both triumphant and heart breaking.

Not gonna do the playoffs either.

I'm an Atlanta fan too, so I'm not going homer here.

    Re: 2008 MLB season

I'll focus on the AL, because outside of the Mets and maybe Philly or Atlanta, the NL is a joke.

Boston is clearly the favorite after retaining most of their staff from last year. Their problem will likely be pitching. Beckett is coming off back problems which is not what you want your ace to be going through. Shilling is likely done, and Dice-K has not proven himself to be anything but a mediocre at best starter. Lester and Buchholtz will be the key for them, they need to have good years. Boston's lineup is also getting old, Ortiz hasn't been himself lately and still seems to be trying overcome injuries. However Manny is still Manny, and Ellsbury is going to be a hell of a player.

The Yankees are actually the underdog this year, their biggest question is their pitching staff. They need Wang to have a good year, Pettite to be the pitcher hes capable of being, and their young pitchers to give them a bunch of good starts. There is potential in their front 4 but it has yet to be realized so it could go either way. The bright side is that their offense is as good as it will ever be, and has the ability to bail their pitchers out of a bad start. If Joba stays in the bullpen, they easily have the best 7/8/9 combo in all of baseball. If their starters get in trouble though, things could change in a hurry.

Detroit also has a great lineup put together but I don't think they're on par with the Yankees just yet. Their pitching staff is full of holes also, so it remains to be seen how well they do. They're clearly capable of winning over 95 games but much like the other powerhouses in the league, need their pitching staff to keep them in the game.

Seattle and the Angels I don't think will change much from last year. They're keeping the majority of their rosters and I doubt there will be any surprises there. Personally I'd bank on the Angels winning the division again.

We're doing it again this year.

Yankees will be lucky to get Wild Card if that.

Detroit is going to be nasty this year, as well as Oakland.

LA Dodgers should be interesting to watch, and should have great potential in a year or so.

they've got one great pitcher (harden), and blanton is average at best, and their lineup is very suspect. i don't see oakland surprising anyone this year, JMO

That's being very nice and optimistic.

However given their current downward spiral since..2000, the best I will give them is the wild card.

    Re: 2008 MLB season

As a die hard Indians fan, it pains me to see people pick Cleveland to win. The more people pick Cleveland, the less likely they'll make the playoffs... If anyone else if from Cleveland, you'll know what I mean.

    AL:
    east: Boston
    central: Cleveland
west: Seattle (tough call, nod to great pitching)
WC: Detroit (will hit their way into the playoffs)

    NL:
    east: Atlanta
    central: Chicago
    west: Arizona
    WC: NY Mets

    WS: Boston v. Atlanta
    WS winner: Boston in 5

It'll be nice seeing Detroit waltz their way into October with Verlander, 4 stragglers, and no bullpen

    AL East: Tampa Bay
    AL Central: Kansas City
    AL West: Los Angeles
    AL Wild Card: Minnesota

    NL East: Florida
    NL Central: Pittsburgh
    NL West: San Fran
    NL Wild Card: Houston

    Playoffs

    Tampa Bay AL Champions
    San Fran NL Champions

WS Champs Tampa Bay in 4

I figure if I choose the teams that are pretty much a guaranteed lose, I won't be disappointed in the end

Tampa Bay won't finish last. Take a look at the Baltimore Orioles roster sometime.
