He probably used an old check to an account he no longer had to make a purchase... or he printed out his own checks and used them.

When I google/wiki searched earlier the only thing that was consistent was "FRAUD" before the OBT.

Here is the relevant statute, if it helps to clear anything up.

    Florida Statute 832.05

832.05 Giving worthless checks, drafts, and debit card orders; penalty; duty of drawee; evidence; costs; complaint form.
    Specifically,

    (4) OBTAINING PROPERTY OR SERVICES IN RETURN FOR WORTHLESS CHECKS, DRAFTS, OR DEBIT CARD ORDERS; PENALTY.

he'll be out as soon as they have a docket opening, few days at most. probably got picked up on an outstanding warrant for it and couldn't immediately afford bond, not surprising considering what he's in there for lol.

I was thinking it might be something to do with a lien check, but w/l = worthless seems to fit better >_>

Might not have even been a check. Could have been bad debit on an online purchase. I don't know if overdraft or fraud is counted under this, or not.

This is why you have bounce protection. Whatever my checking balance is, the bank allots me an extra $500 interest free to cover any bounced checks. Just have to get out of the negative balance in so many days or I lose that protection.
