i'm actually picking kimbo in this one...just because he's very aggressive and we've all seen how susceptible thompson is to ko's. i got lawler...i'm picking villasenor over baroni because baroni is one of the most overrated fighters i know. he's something like 10-9, and nothing really impressive in those wins or losses. he just talks shit really well and that always has its place. looking forward to the show though...and also the next night with pulver vs. faber in WEC.

I know they try to set kimbo up for Tyson-esque quick KOs, but I'd like to see him have to go a few rounds, see how he does. Not sure what kind of fighter would be good at making him do that though - a good wrestler with great takedowns and bad submissions maybe?

Heh, I wasn't going to say it, but sure. In theory Brock has good ground and pound, but two fights are hard to judge his repertoire on. Would be interesting, and also not going to happen.

i dont really like kimbo at all. but ill watch all his fights hoping someone thats not washed up and actually has some skill just fkn destroys him.

if you watched his youtube fights.. none of those guys have any clue what so ever how to fight. the only guy that did (had actual UFC experience) got "yelled at" for using headlocks and take downs. ok well w/e those were the rules they agreed to. but still, there is no way that kimbo should have this kind of hype and headlining a show let alone being on the cover of fkn ESPN.

BUT.. if Bas Rutten says hes the real deal, then he is. cuz Bas knows his shit.

it's actually getting pretty good coverage so far. ESPN radio had a MMA segment this morning, ESPN.com has been doing a MMA LIVE show for a couple weeks now as well. the sport is actually starting to get mainstream coverage. this summer is going to be awesome.

Do 'real' MMA people have a problem with EliteXC being on CBS? A lot of the people that I talk to about UFC hate kimbo and think he's just a sideshow freak of MMA. I like the guy but it seems like he's got a lot of haters already.

I don't see why I would potentially have a problem with EliteXC on CBS. I can't think of a single downside to having MMA come mainstream.

As for Kimbo... He is a sideshow freak as of now. If (and only if) he can start to beat top ten opponents (or even opponents top 30), he'll become more than a sideshow freak.
