Leveling low level jobs in the past

I see people leveling in East Ronfaurep[S] so i thoguht I'd level my 10 DNC there seeing as most things are DC-EM at that level. So I engage a DC worm and it starts hitting me for 50-60. I have all HQ leather gear and def food on and I check the worm again to make sure it was DC. Yep. Decent Challenge Low Defense Carrion Worm. It's stone1s were doing 5-10 dmg while its melee hits were doing 60+ and I have like 130 HP at this level. Is this normal?

I've found that ,ost mobs in the past do seem to hit much harder than their level-equivalent present day counterparts. With sigil bonuses they're good xp but it depends on not getting hit.

I found the same thing. If you can sub a job with a DoT or two, you're set. I manage to solo ITs on my BRD in North Gustaberg spamming elegy, dia, and banish. =X

As its been said, they noticeably harder. To be honest, while the effects you can get from Sigil are really nice, most of the time I prefer Signet's EM-EP DEF/EVA bonuses at low levels.

Now if only the present had Pixies that you could camp near, so they inevitably always make a round near your body if you die

Sigil has the same bonuses as Signet afaik for EP-EM and hMP + hHP.

I did BLM in the past at like lv9-11 easily on the worms though, was nice.

I did DRK on those worms while I was in that level range. I was surprised at how hard they hit, but pleased at how little HP they seemed to have, which made chaining very easy.

You must not of had sigil if they hit for 60~ damage.

Sigil = Signet, with Sanction's bonuses optional.

If you consider level 25 low level, you can get 14k/hr party @ Grauberg_S on worms. There's a shit ton of spawn points... only thing you gotta watch out for is the frequent gob aggro which more than likely WILL happen if you fight the worms on the hills. I 2box'd a BLM, so the gob wasn't really an issue; also had a raise handy, though deaths weren't very frequent.

Our party set up was DNC DNC COR BRD DRK and DRG. The DRG was swapped in once a SCH friend had to go, and the exp really started to add up. This was without any sort of experience boost also

Also, Lycopodiums at level 21~ is also a safe bet. They do not have sleep flower.. if they do, then they hardly EVER use it. Pty'd there until we were 25 or so then moved to Grauberg. Also, sigil bonuses are pretty hot.

i would recommend 12-20 (or 15-20 just do gusta (s) before) for ronfaure (S) atleast thats what i did when i leveled DNC there completely skipped the d00nz
was always above 3k exp/hr soemtimes 4k+ but i also leveled NIN there w/ /DNC got it to 15 i think before i stopped ffxi
it goes faster once you get cure waltz

if you check the lolwikia theres a DNC solo guide... VERY helpful :D

also.. with /DNC the same camps seem to somewhat work just a bit more resting cuz no cure waltz xD

I use campsitarus, and it has some pretty accurate information. Around level 52~, I partied on my MNK with a PLD tank on Worker Crawlers outside CN in the past. Pretty good exp, though our DD was rather lacking... could've been better.

You only get the lack of TP loss, hHP, and EXP bonuses in parties of 2-5. They never gave the EVA/DEF bonuses to Sigil.

While the mobs in the past are significantly stronger than their present-day counterparts, I found that it was actually had a bright side.... soloing low level jobs as /BST.

In the past, you get the better Sigil bonuses plus your pets are actually a lot more powerful than you are so you can take advantage of weak mobs (i.e. worms) vs stronger pets, as well as melee with your pet the entire time.

I solo'd DNC most of the way to 37 for a sub job as /BST in the past and it went pretty quickly with a lot less of a worry about keeping hate balanced on the pet.

Well, I guess I'm just buffer than I used to be, but I could swear I noticed having a lot more trouble with say, the goobs outside the rolan [S] maw when I ran through without sigil, than I did with it.

Leveled sch from 7-20 in north gusty [S] with ease. Also got chain 4 on T-VT worms there on sam. Never bringing another job through dunes again!

Also worth noting- depending on your luck, you may be able to get "Reduced exp loss" for 100 AN from the Sigil guards. Not having lost exp in WoTG in forever, I'm not sure if that applies combined with Raise, or only if you Home Point.

Man speaks the truth. Saved a whole lot of time and frustration when I was building parties for West Sarutabaruta [S] in the 30's(which is unbelievable, I might add, they're practically endless).
