Ooh man this thread is so cool! All of this art is beautiful! So much that it inspired me to post my art: Sprites! Pixelart is very fun for me, so I've done some pieces using ModelViewer screenshots as strong references. Hope you like them

Probably lurking, lol. You made an MMO, eh? Do you have a link/screenshots? (Could PM if you want ) I do spriting mostly as a hobby and FFXI tends to take up most of my hobby time. ._.;

Care to share the process on making sprites like that?

• So I start by finding a pose that I like in ModelViewer and screenshotting it.
  I then find my 16 color palette with colors that are similar to that of the picture.
  Then I paste a very minimized copy of the original screenshot in to iDraw.
  Next I outline the different sections (body parts, etc) filling them with base colors
  Finally...sprite it while looking at the original picture for reference. This is just using spriting techniques like anti-aliasing etc.

Simple, right? I'm not really that good of an artist, but the sprites turn out pretty well. Like I told my friend, think of it like a Photoshop filter that is done manually. It's good practice at least :D If you told me to sprite Ifrit without a picture to reference...it would be a very crappy sprite indeed.

The MMO stopped short(This was my second time recreating it) because I lost the source code due to vista totally crashing and me having to fdisc and start over with a fresh vista install. That being said it's currently out of (re)production because I had no one to do sprites and it was very hard to do on my own. It didn't give the game it's original feeling because I had to use other people's sprites.

Need someome who can do paper doll sprites and character sprites. I have enough pirated building sprites to do, but the ability to edit them would be great.

Thanks Siknoz (from Fairy too? ) ^^ Ou and nice Senoska I only do pixely stuff mainly using bases other people create (like the BRD Kyaru in my signature) out of laziness, but yeah, game sprite design can be very involving (so I commend Luny's patience with doing the 16 bit kind even if it's done based off a model viewer image, it's still very time consuming). Sucks that ya lost everything :/ fkn vista. Though looks pretty cool if you do end up reworking on it ever again :D

<_< unfortunately most of all my other FFXI stuff isn't exactly postable otherwise I'd have more to show. Would also have more colored pieces if I had the time ; ; fkn school (read: fkn FFXI)
