I didn't get anything out of Life of Pi
I didn't get anything out of Life of Pi
Yeah it's hard to put my finger on it exactly - it's funny you mention Big Fish because I love that movie.
It took too long to get going and I just didn't find the main character to be compelling. The fact that the only other characters for most of the movie were CGI animals probably didn't help.
Spoiler: show
We both liked Star Trek. I would recommend.
Took a girl who's not really into action movies and hadn't seen the first and she really liked it.
Much more entertaining than I expected.
Spoiler: show
Was going through my vcr tapes and popped one in unlabeled and it was near the beginning of Best of the Best. Ended up watching all of it in its vhs glory and now looking for the blu-ray. good god just a great kung fu well martial arts movie
I figure since the review of this movie is so horrible, it doesn't worth a new thread.
After Earth is at 12% on RT already hahahahaha, reading all the critics ripping Jaden Smith a new ass hole is far more entertaining than the movie itself.
"It had a great premise, solid special effects and decent direction, but the film's potential is derailed by some truly atrocious acting, especially from Jaden Smith."
"Jaden Smith (who was actually good in THE KARATE KID) winds up looking like a nervous child who, forced to play baseball by his father, strikes out with the bases loaded."
"The problem is that Jaden Smith is a truly, deeply limited actor. When you call on him to do THIS much on screen, it's not good. In fact, it's painful"
"Is "After Earth" the worst movie ever made?"
"Even with his charismatic dad in his earpiece calling the shots, Jaden can't turn himself into a movie star by sheer force of Will."
I feel like Jaden is the Justin beiber of movies. Every one loves to hate him, but the dude still makes more money year after year.
Is Now You See Me any good? I have a free ticket to Iron Man 3 and I was thinking about movie hopping afterwards. After Earth was a consideration, but after seeing the reviews....
Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring
Been hoping for a subtitled Blu Ray release of this for a while, with it looking like it will never get one. So I was excited to see an HD version on television last night as I was flipping around. Check your listings, maybe you get lucky. It was on Indieplex for me, though it looks like an SD version is showing on Starz next week too?
Wonderful, subtle, and simple film. Loved everything about it. Ki-duk Kim's films are kinda hit or miss with me. Loved Pieta, didn't care for Samaritan Girl. Dream is on Netflix, and I plan on checking that out this weekend finally.
Netflix horror movie binge the other night
Pontypool
Very interesting take on a zombie-type scenario, with the whole movie taking place inside a radio station.
V/H/S
Found footage horror composed of 5-6 short horror stories. Some were good, some were bad, it was entertaining overall and the bad parts were fun to laugh at.
Session 9
Psychological horror, fairly disturbing/interesting.
Went ahead and watched Mud last week based on some really solid reviews and I was very much entertained. Great story through and through, although I recall early on being a little nervous that the movie wouldn't pick up pace - but be not afraid! Makes for an excellent date movie without being "Notebook"-ey.
Mud and Pontypool are mad dope
Just watched Gangster Squad. If you like gangster/crime movies it's a decent watch.
It always amazes me that more people haven't seen Session 9. Such a great flick. Watched End of Watch last night. I regret putting it off for so long. Great movie.
