I heard that paladin with great sword turns you into Vayde.

If you have one mil to throw around why not. Unless they come out with a new GS that is better, algol is pretty much your best option as pld/sam.
gogogo ragnarok PLD/SAM
if you are/know lucky crafter bahadur+1/nagan+1 cause extra dex can't be bad
How has Subduer not been mentioned? Just burn a few runs of Double Dragonian for a Subduer, very solid GS...although it took me twelve orbs (two of them mine) to finally get it to drop.On another note, is Algol worth getting just for this?
It was mentioned, but there was some talk about weapon tier or some such
I don't like subduer, don't wanna waste KS, etc etc.
I'm still wondering why no one mentions Martial Sword.
Seriously, 2.5 > 3.0 fTP is awesome.
Mbhuj makes Steel noticeably rape face much harder, and that is only 1.5 > 1.75 at 100% TP.
Just to show you guys that I wasn't BSing you when I said Subduer's weapon rank follows its nonlatent base, which results in weapon rank of 8, and fstr of 16 and critical cap of 303 instead of 9/17/306 of the latent base damage.
I tried to search if anyone had done similar test as me back then before the 2H adjustment, and couldn't find any result. So, thanks to some Japanese language skill, I did the same search (typing " サブドゥア 303 " in google, which is subduer's japanese character and 303 is my test result), and you get a few articles stating that it caps at 303 instead of 306.
A few links, which I used auto translation to help you understand more:

This site illustrated the critical hit cap of the latent weapons before and after breaking latent. It also explains how it is calculated, as in subduer's case it is (8+8+85)*3 = 303. It did not explain why the weapon rank isn't 9 after breaking latent, and base on the tone, it seems like they believe that it follows the nonlatent weapon rank.
Another site had player basically go outside of city and test the critical hit cap. It listed all critical hit result etc. And again it caps at 303.

It is just 3 damage but what is right should be known. If you guys did test on other weapons of the same type and got different result, then probably either subduer is an exception, or that perhaps 2H weapon followed different rule. But without a doubt, Subduer follows nonlatent base damage.
Fuck I hate busting my ass doing/reading maths. Even 2+2 makes me have a brainfart.
To any algol owner out here, what's the fire proc rate on that thing?
about 25% I say from using it for over a year before switching to Naglering.
Cool i'm guessing 10-20 added dmg?
0-50 from HNM to mob that are weak to fire such as JOJ or on firesday.
10-25 normally in merit situation.
I got 8 sword merits and 0 GS merits and my PLD/SAM outparses my J/J PLD/NIN easily (not to mention a good amount of DDs). A nice bonus to using PLD/SAM is that you can fulltime Hasso and just heal yourself with a cures in between pulls. Never have to worry about Seigan or being a drain on the party.
what about a DDStaff (if there is any good) PLD/SAM
Dual wield will wreck staff PLD/SAM, unfortunately. Retribution just simply can't put out the numbers that spinning slash can, with the lack of any decent staves, save mekki and primate+1. You might be able to occasionally beat (and have much more reliable numbers against) vorpal blade, but it's not enough, considering you're definitely not going to be tping nearly as quickly to beat the overall damage potential of j/j.
Doing that would imply no haste for anyone if you're thinking about replacing RDM for a PLD.
