Default Laser Printers on a budget.

Hi, currently in the process of starting up a small business on my own. And I'm in dire need of a fast, economical printer that doesn't use the horrid "Ink-jet" standard. For years I've used Ink-Jets and I ended up spending more money on ink than I did on high grade printing paper in a year.

I've went to the store (Office Depot, Circuit City, etc.) and looked around for a new laser printer since I've always seen them as top tier when it comes to a business application in terms of reliability and speed.

Can anyone recommend a good laser printer thats cheap, has an easy to replace toner, and works well? Also is there anything that I should look for in terms of specs when I look for deals.

edit: One last thing, I've noticed there are monochrome and color laser printers obviously. And I know the difference. But is there really a huge economically reason to use monochrome? (I know alot of public library's, etc. use these instead to save money).

    Thanks

Color is a waste of $

Brother is a great deal on quality/price.
I bought a nice all in one for 200$ for myself.

Brother International - Printers - HL-2140 is about $100, and the toner is 45$ (amazon, or you can buy cheaper off brand ones) for 2600 prints. It's a very good deal.

If you are going to use a laser printer, and have anyone in the office who's sensitive to various chemicals, I'd recommend keeping it in a well-ventilated area.

Part of that "office smell" can be attributed to printers, especially the large industrial kind (which you'll not be using, so it's not as much of a worry) -- if you want to keep things fresh, I'd suggest leaving a window open.

Yeah, when I was going to college. The college I attended installed air-filtration systems next to all laser printers ventilation ducts on the units so it would be clean (or at least alot better than what it was) when it gets released back into the room.

edit: wow that brother printer you posted is sexy looking for the price. All the ones I've seen for $140.00 or less were huge like xbox with faxes and scanners integrated. All which is useless to me since I have a scanner already and don't use fax at all period from home.

you might also do well to check ebay for used lexmark printers or something like that. many companies are afraid to try to fix a $600+ printer that needs nothing more than a few parts you can get for 60-70 dollars from a company like www.marketpoint.com. i've torn these printers down and put them back together dozens of times and most are actually very easy to make work like new for anyone who's not afraid of a screwdriver.
