Oh the D60 takes SD? I didn't realize that. You have a great set up so far and you're going along.

The major reason I got rid of the 2 to 1 was I do a lot of work with highschool youth and well it would suck not having the right lens on to do the job so after a lot of debating, I made the switch and while yes, it's not as pristine it's a great all-purpose lens.

I've never played with a coupling ring, but I've seen quite a bit with them and they look pretty damn good for macro work. I might have to get one after the wedding / house / major life changes all settle down. I do know that I'll be taking the camera on the honey moon, future wife is already starting to play with my D70 so hopefully I can get her as involved with it as I am so I won't feel as bad when I go and get more stuff.

As far as flashes, I have the sb800 but well, honestly, you can get the same results with the 600, I got the 800 for a steal, it was a return to Penn Camera and they didn't have manuals or other stuff with it so they sold it at a reduced cost. Only reason why I have it instead of the 600, and I think the 600 can do master / slave which is amazing for sit down work. I know the 800 can control a 600 but I'm not sure if a 600 can control a 600 or anything else for that matter.

Here are a few shots I took. I'm a graphic designer by trade, photographer on the side.

I don't think a 600 can be a commander. The D60 also does not have a built in commander. The 900 might be an option too, but it's still around $350 vendor price, which is a bit crazy considering I spent $500 for my body and kit lenses.

Doing macros with a coupler is difficult That was about 1 second of exposure with a 100w bulb about 8" from the pins. I had to hold the 18-55mm aperture slide thing open with a cut q-tip as it's a G lens without an aperture ring.

To Sephx, there is something about B&W photos that I really enjoy. If I get more time in the future I'd like to try shooting film and developing in B&W.

The only thing I hate about my 18-200VR is the fucking lens creep whenever you point it down. Fucking thing annoys me to no end. I shoot with a D80 and a D50, have a 17-50 f/2.8, 50 f/1.8 (favorite lens ever), 105 f/2.8 and the 18-200. Ideally I'd like to get the 70-200 f/2.8 (rented this a couple years ago and loved it) and a Tokina 11-16 f/2.8. The 11-16 idea would go out the window if I decide to upgrade to a D3 or D700 though.

    Some random photo.

I really want the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8, or in a fact an ultra wide, there just so damn expensive.

    Yay a photography thread.

I've just gotten into the hobby myself recently. Picked up a Nikon d60 last fall and bought myself the 18-200mm VR lens for Christmas.

Here is some random sampling of some of my shots:

i remember doing some old photos with my grandpa, before photoshop and such came around it took a solid week or so to create multiple 'images' of a certain object.

    i like collecting old cameras and cleaning them up / using them with my father. If i ever get any scanned i'll post them here as i love taking pictures of nature as my subject @@;

Not really anything special, but just some photos I took up in the Peace River Valley last August on a business trip with a compact digital.

I'm not sure how many flickr fans are on here, but since I saw several other d60 users on here I figured I'd pass along a group I found.

Flickr: "Nikon D40/x/D60 Challenge Group "

There's a group on Flickr that has a weekly contest each week. They put up a Theme and people enter pictures that fit the theme (For example one week the them was Purple and people took pictures of purple things). The catch is the pictures entered need to be taken during the week of the contest. It also has to be taken with a Nikon d40 or d60 for this particular group (might be other similar things for other cameras but I found the one that fit mine).

It's all just for fun, nothing for winning each contest. It's just kind of neat to have sort of a photography scavenger hunt each week.

Cool pic, but it's got me wondering how much you could get for that bike if you did a restoration.

    Thank you.

I doubt it'd be worth the effort. It is at the bottom of a pretty substantial gorge (was playing with my new zoom lens when taking the picture I posted and don't have a good contract of the depth picture uploaded anywhere).

I have no clue what the old bikes go for, but it'd probably take a really long wench cable and a person in repelling gear to get to it

I just saw this thread. I've been looking at buying a decent digital camera for some time. But I never really got around to it. I'm not looking to get into photography seriously. Just something that can take some decent pictures. I'm tired of only having my iPhone for taking pictures.

I'm probably just going to end up getting a point and shoot. But I know there is still a huge difference between those.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Just from browsing reviews and such.. It looks like the Sony Cybershot 10.1mp seems like a solid choice. But again, I know next to nothing about cameras.

dpreview.com has reviews from serious photographers on just about all current makes and models of cameras.

You got impressively close to that bee unless you happen to have a nice zoom lol.

It's under $600 at B&H.. but backordered. Funny thing about this lens.. everytime I want it, it's backordered.. and when it's in stock, I name off reasons in my head why I don't need it at the moment.. and when I want it again, it's back on backorder. One day the stars and moon will align and I'll get this lens.. :D
