I want to say Assassin's Creed would make for a decent movie rendition. The plot could be different but the entertainment value would be nearly the same. Of course there are about as many ways to fuck up the game style as there are ways to portray it perfectly. I haven't touched the game in a long time and already forgot how the storyline unfolds.

Grim Fandango as a claymation/stop-motion project would be absolutely amazing. The story would have to be pruned down a lot given the four year scope of the game, but the character-driven plot would translate very well to a film. CG could also work, but I think traditional VFX would really be best.

System Shock 2 would also be an interesting inspiration for a film; the reveal with Shodan controlling Dr. Polito would be awesome.

You gotta admit, it wasn't kinda meh... it was shit.

But that's mostly because they changed so much, had they left the series alone and just animated it I think it would have worked well enough.

Halo, Gears of War, Killzone, and Call of Duty because hopefully it would kill those god damn franchises.

Final Fantasy VIII - Never was a big fan of the battle/junction system, but I absolutely loved the storyline of this game. A lot of the action/chase sequences in the game felt quite movie-like.

I actually would NOT want MGS to be made into movie form. I think the medium it already used was quite perfect to tell the story. Trying to condense all of that in movie form just can't end well IMO.

Anime was terrible. I watched the whole thing because I love the games, but it was just painful.

Not matter what medium you use, you always need a good director to make the story interesting.

If you cut the useless crap, you can easily fit a single Metal gears in a 2h movie.

I love the game, i love its endless codec conversation, but not everything play an important role in the story.

the problem with game-movies is that you are stripping one important element--the gameplay--from a complete product--the game--and try to profit from only a fragment of it--the story--and turn it into a movie

that's why rarely any game movies ever worked, because even for the most beloved RPGs, once you take away the interactive part of it, the story becomes medicore at best. You can find plots with all the drama and twists and turns way better if you just try to find screenplay blueprints in books

Hungry Hungry Hippos or Mouse Trap.

    Video games? Ohhhh

Resistance could make a decent alien invasion movie. Mass Effect could also be turned into a decent movie. Personally, I want a Uwe Boll version of Battletoads, and see if anyone can watch it past the wind tunnel scene.

As for game movies, Bioshock is the obvious choice, the MGS franchise is basically a movie as is, and I'd personally go see an Uncharted movie if it was done right happily.

In the case of Killzone and Gears of War, can 2 games really be called a franchise? Killzone 2 isn't even out yet. Sounds like abortion.

I think Metal Gear Solid doesn't really work as a movie. MGS3 might, but the rest are too reliant on meta-story and are paced like a comicbook. At best it would be a brainless action movie with little of the MGS charm(box cameo may not be included).

I can't really think of any games I'd like to see as a movie. It's a burden and a curse really. I don't think it is a impossible to make a good videogame movie though. I just don't know how it can be done without stripping everything about a game away. In the end I think one big problem is that's exactly what they are doing. Maybe it is as simple as being truer to the source.

For example how many street fighter movies need to come out before we get a movie about street fighting?

Killzone has a PSP incarnation and I can guarantee they will leverage future titles.
Gears was conceived as a trilogy (as way too many games are nowadays, but that's a different story.)

Yes it's been done before. Twice before. But I love zombie movies, hence why I want a Dead Rising movie!

although it did kinda rip off that old sly stallone movie, where he plays an assassin talking to his laptop or w/e.

I'm currently playing AC and came here to suggest this game.
