    Default Controlling Qiqirn Astrologer's movement

When soloing QQA how do you control his movement to keep him from warping. One time I did him and he stayed still or came towards me and never made his way to the tele, the next few times I tried him he seemed to lose interest and go up. My question is what are the distances I need to be at, not go past, not too close to keep him from warping? What distance do I need to be when he is casting -aga, what distance when he T4 nukes, etc. How do I pull him towards me, how do I push him away when I need to?

Another question I might as well throw out there is how do people solo the 5th floor QQA around the gear?

I know nothing about soloing QQAs in general but afaik the gear in that hallway before the 5f QQA does not aggro to anything, so you can just walk right by it.

Standard Black Mage Artificial Intelligence, if it starts casting on you, but you run out of range of the spell, it will run after you and try to cast again. This overrides its urge to run to the teleporter.

Mob casting distance is 30 if you're using Windower.

    Taken from otherwiki:
If the player with hate runs out of casting range, he will follow rather than move toward the teleporter, which makes soloing him with DoT possible.
From what I know you don't have to run out of range during a cast, he will follow at any time to nuke you. Hope that helps.

So should I run to 31 to get it to chase and cast again?

Is it correct that the 5th floor gear in the hall doesnt aggro?

Set your chat filters to see what it's casting. Once it starts casting on you, if its a short spell, run out of range, if its a long spell, cast Bio or Poison and then run out of range. If you let it finish casting a spell, it will run towards the teleporter.

I've had some odd experiences with those gears, sometimes they attack you and sometimes they don't. I'm not really sure why.

I honestly can't remember whether it aggroes or not, which is silly as I've done quite a bit of Salvage. If I recall it doesn't but take that with a grain of salt.

The fifth gear does aggro, it just has a pathing glitch where most of the time it doesn't see you. Occasionally though, it will detect you as you run through, and it will always aggro magic/abilities etc.

Others have already said this, but basically just run far away from it and it'll chase you. I've never had a QQA run away this way. Once it runs out of mp (if it lasts that long) it'll just keep running towards you and away from you repeatedly, rarely actually attacking you.

I'm pretty sure it does. Maybe you can avoid it, but it if you stay on his path he will aggro. Or at least that's what I recall.

I've done these on RDM/NIN quite a lot, been a while now thought and I suck at explaining stuff, but I'll give it a go!

As others have said when it starts casting on you, just run out of range and it will chase you down after the nuke.

I generally just stay in casting range if it is AM or T4 because shadows absorb those and the QQ will run out of MP after a while and then it can't actually warp on you and instead just spend its time running around like a fool while you slowly DoT it to death.

When I first started doing them I had the same problem you seem to be describing, it would just randomly decide that it didn't want to play the case the elvaan down a corridor game and would head for the porter, if it does that you just run back into casting range of it and it should try nuke you and then you can run away again and it should go back to normal.

As for the second QQA, I just go open the porter door to pop it and then run back avoiding all the gears and normally just sleep nuke the gear on the stairs since it never fails to aggro me, doesn't take long really, even on RDM.

Then I just have the QQA running in and out of the door while I keep DoTs on it and nuke it if I have enough spare MP.

As for making it run away from you, just get close to it and it should start running for the porter.

Just remember that any time you are killing them they should be between you and the porter or they tend to just run and warp.

Hope that helps, probably doesn't make that much sense really, but at least I tried!
